Millions of people have read "My Utmost for His Highest" which may be the classic devotional book of the 20th century. In my mind this book ranks along side, and deserves as wide a reading audience as Chambers book. Kinlaw is from the American South and some of the colloquialisms of his personal background show up in the language of the book; it doesn't always sound as formal as Chambers British English. But the insights are superb, rich and thought provoking. I know more than one pastor who has used this book as preaching fodder before telling his congregation about it. Dr. Kinlaw is a first class theologian, a professor of Hebrew and theology, a masterful preacher/communicator, and a long time ardent disciple of Jesus, This book reflects all this from cover to cover. This is a real gem from a man whom I consider to be one of the treasures of American Pietism, and you will not regret picking up a copy.

I greatly appreciate the wisdom and heart of Dennis Kinlaw. I love it! It is powerful and profound. I have given it to two of my friends. One of my friends is my pastor who also went to Asbury College and knew Dr. Kinlaw. A wonderful way to start the day.

Theologically deep, complex, yet true. This is not your typical "sentimental" devotional, looking to make you smile warm smiles. It seems intended to stretch your mind, and deepen your faith. Over the years I have been given countless devotionals, and this one far exceeds the others! Beware: it makes you think.

Know Dr. Kinlaw personally, and this devotional is one of the best on the market. Many personal stories or illustrations, and quite "meaty" in the comments he's made. You need to work through this devotional at least once in your life -- though I've done so a number of times.

This has become my favorite devotional of all time. Dr. Kinlaw has inspired and encouraged his readers to really know God, not just know of God. Don't buy this if you just want to warm a seat at church. It will change your life!

Dr. Kinlaw's daily devotional thoughts are both uplifting and challenging. The Men's Fellowship Breakfast group in our church has been using this during 2015 and the readings have provided a great basis for conversation and growth.

This Day with the Master seems to be good devotional material. I use this book probably two or three days a week. The book is well written and gives good insight to the Christian life. It avoids the pitfall of many well-intentioned devotional books by being written with grace while not being sappy.
