What really captured my attention is the heartfelt and truly authentic tone of the book from beginning to end. This is a work of love and that really shines through; drawing the reader in with words that capture the heart, words that bring strength and words that help to enrich the lives and families of the reader. From the touching stories of those of have experienced raising a child in the Autism spectrum to words of encouragement through inspiring poetry, this is a must read just for the mere fact it is a celebration of life in the best way possible.
Though I'm not a parent of a child in the Autism spectrum or closely connected to one, I do feel like this was a worthy read nonetheless and I would definitely recommend it to others even if you're like me and are just looking for a beautiful book that will touch your heart.
The author, Rachel, is married to a man with Asperger's and together they are raising two boys on the autism spectrum. If you are new to this "life" you may think that all autistic children have the same issues. WRONG! Each autistic child is different and as this book says, autism is NOT clear cut. You have been handed a blank canvas just for you with a wide variety of colors. (The doctor's and specialists cannot give you a book.) You can make it beautiful. It's your choice!
You will read true life stories and poems from children all the way through to adults who are parenting autistic children or ones who struggled for years wondering what was wrong with them. Your child may not show all the symptoms talked about but I can pretty much guarantee that you will see your child and yourself somewhere in these pages!
This book was a real blessing to me and I wholeheartedly thank ALL the contributors for taking the time to make this book so special. No matter what special needs your child has, grab this book and read it. It certainly helped me to see things in a much brighter light and with a much more positive attitude. It's also well-written so that's another great plus!
Thank you, Rachel, for sharing your story in such an entertaining, inspiring, and heartfelt way.
