Editorial Reviews

Fuckshovel were spawned in the backstreets of London town after a night of drunken debauchery spurred on by a Velvet Revolver show. The unruly quartet wanted to forge a fresh and exciting band that would encompass their collective background which includes stints with Cradle of Filth, Decimator, Basement Jaxx, Plan B, and remnants of Phil Lynott's Grand Slam. After countless rehearsing and local gigging, the four-piece finally managed to snare a sound that boasts a stunning concoction of old school metal melded with the attitude and drive of punk rock. 'This Is What We Are' was recorded in the legendary Assault & Battery 2 Studios in London, with producer Rohan Onraet. The band laying down eleven prime cuts of metallic-fused punk and they are now geared for the album's national release this February. The record immediately sparks the synapses with the opening onslaught of 'Germs Of Empire' which attacks the senses with shredding riffs and rampant energy. The metallic punk of their past single 'Long Time Dead'' is a ravenous beast which affectionately tips its cap to Anthrax, while their new video single 'Schizophonic' playfully sneers at you with a pounding bass line and fist pummelling shout-outs. There's little doubt that the band have chiselled out an album that is sure to see them flourish in 2013.

For anyone who enjoys smart unadulterated and unrelenting metal music, this is a must buy. F***shovel excel in terms of the combination of all their component parts, driving guitar, supported by a thunderous rhythm section with vocals and lyrics which don't compromise. At last an intelligent, smart and listenable metal album which offers much more than the usual dross. Listen to Germs of Empire, Schizophonic and try and stop yourself wanting to jam along, Skull and Bones with its catchy hook and my personal favourite Long Time Dead, with its in your face chorus, and with the best video [see Youtube] ever made. All in all a glorious album, buy it now, and of course turn it up loud, very very loud........!!!!!
