The thing that I liked best about Thomas and Sammie was that they were real. Thomas wasn't some alpha male jerk. Sammie wasn't a damsel in distress. Yes, they both had their own issues that they needed to work through to come together as a couple, but they were the real world kind of issues that anyone may have experienced themselves. This sense of reality made the story even more compelling. The characters felt like people you might run across in the grocery store or out picking up a pizza on a Friday night. I also really liked the family dynamic of the Quidell brothers. They were each very much individuals, but you could tell that they cared about each other very much and tried to look out for each other. If you are at all drawn to steamy contemporary romance, this book is worth a look.
At first, I wasn't sure I would really like Sam. She is a confusing character...coming across as a strong, confident businesswoman and then a weak and vulnerable woman who is living with a man that treats her horrible but she doesn't realize it. As we get inside her head, I did indeed like her. Thomas is awesome and I liked him immediately.
Their love story happens quickly of course since this is a novella and I would have enjoyed a full length book about them. However, you get a solid, happy ending and there is another book about Thomas' brother that I will look forward to reading.
As an artist that had to cave to the pressures of real life, I could totally relate to Thomas.
The series has two more books released for each of Thomas's brothers and I just found out that each brother's story will continue in a second book for each of them. Thanks Kris for sharing these awesome brother's with us.
Kris brings so much description, sensation, love and anxiety to this, her first book of the Quidell Brother's series. I am looking forward to reading it for the 4th time, and waiting for Daniel's Fire next! out soon!
