    I was advised by my neurologist to take vitamins to help my MS. These are very pure vitamins recommended to me by my niece who is a naturopathic doctor. I have been taking them for over five years and I'm never sick. If I take them on an empty stomach, they tend to make me kind of nauseous but it passes - or I eat something.

    I usually like Thorne products as they are the best supplements on the market. I have purchased their AM/PM vitamins in the past and loved the energy they provided. I was going to purchase them again, but I took the survey on Thorne’s website to see which of their vitamins would be the most beneficial for me. The Thorne’s survey results said their Detox formula would be best for me so I ordered them. I took them for a few days and started off with 1/3 of the recommended daily dosage, as that is what some of the other reviews suggested. My fingers started to swell and all of my joints started to ache. I thought it couldn’t be the vitamins as they were good for me. I was in a lot of pain so I stopped taking the vitamins and within two days the swelling went down and my joint pain went away. Again, I was in disbelief so I took the vitamins again and within a few hours, my fingers were swollen and my joint pain returned. I don’t know what is in these that would cause this. I know Thorne products are top notch, but for some reason these don’t agree with me.

    Really helps add a "glow" to one's facial skin, and seems to make things "sharper" visually. Definite "mood boost" or "relaxation" as well, likely from the Pyridoxal 5'-Phosphate high dosage.

    However, these are very strong and need to be taken early in the day. In addition they are not coated with Magnesium Sterate, which Thorne loves to claim is "better" or "healthier", but to be honest seems to get in the way of their supplements actually working correctly in my opinion, as all of them can be inconsistent unless I cut them open and dump them in a liquid beverage.

    Quite disappointing in that regard, especially for the price and the brand's reputation. I hope to see better from them in the future, as I'm also somewhat annoyed that I have linked a lot of stomach aches and pains, as well as overall stomach issues in the past months as being 100% caused by using a lot of their supplements. I blame this on the lack of a "slippery substance" to make them more easily digested, which is important for a lot of people like myself.

    That said, you can physically FEEL that their supplements like this are top notch. Not just compared to Walmart brands, but to the best brands you'll find in any health food store. They feel more like pharmaceuticals than supplements, and that's what we pay for... well, and the knowledget that there aren't heavy metals or other additives in them.

    My integrative MD called these the foundation of metabolic detoxification programs, and said he had his whole family on them. (He has since moved on to a proprietary product from Xymogen, I think he said Oraxinol along with ActivNutrients, but that is not readily available to most people as it can only be bought through a Xymogen dealer.)

    There is one important thing you must know about them: start slow!! I started with 1 pill (the supposed daily dose is 12), and it was too much. I had to work my way up from 1/8 capsule per day (yes, that's 1/96th of the supposed daily dose). It took me a few months and some other work to get to 6 a day. I can still feel it as these start to wear off (I usually take 2 3x a day). I think 6 a day is a typical dose, although I'm going to ask about going higher.

    You can think of metabolic detoxification as the real form of detoxification that removes actual toxins from your body, as studied by research scientists, not to be confused with the trendy cleanses and so forth. These vitamins have a complex of herbs/"botanicals"; (more or less the 3rd column of ingredients on the bottle) that enhance and push your body's detox systems.

    As you can see, these vitamins are expensive (about 30 cents each and I typically take around 6 a day when I'm taking them = $1.80 per day). You might consider mixing these with some cheaper vitamins from Thorne or elsewhere to reduce the cost some. Sadly, I have not found the Amazon Basic multivitamin formulation to be well-chosen last I looked.
