William Thorne keeps moving in circles trying to figure out what to make of the mess his life had turned into. Rose still can't quite give up on him in spite that everything in the world tells her to abandon that doomed love affair. She does it with her quiet strength and determination even if at times her patience is seriously tested by Thorne's confusing behavior. Rose is definitely the character with a stronger arc as she moves on from a painfully shy and inexperienced girl fighting the demons of her past and tragedy into a confident young woman with bright future, even if she is still a bit shy and introverted, part of her charm. Perhaps at times she is way too angelic and lacking any serious flaws to work through but she is very different from the woman who signed her dark contract. William, on the other hand, is a hot mess, always moving in the vicious circle of his own mind, one step forward, two steps back. I won't reveal much but even if he is pretty frustrating at some moments of the book (to say the least) it is always a natural behavior for someone like him. Will he break out of the circle, will he really assume control of his life instead of the illusion of it? Will he get his resolution and peace? Will Rose and William finally have a release after the storm and get their happy ending, or it will all end in another tragedy?
I'm afraid you'll have to read the book yourself to figure it out. It's worth it. Elegant writing, beautiful character development, some interesting twists in the sensual scenes, some characters' unexpected return and a big surprise by the end. Finish William and Rose's journey and find out what waits for them beyond the veil of darkness. You won't regret it.
