True to our Job-Fitted heritage, Thorogood collaborated with Ironworkers, Boilermakers, Electricians, and safety directors to create an outsole for every jobsite. Over the course of two years we worked to develop our exclusive MAXWear outsole that outlasts the competition by 30%. We started with the MAXWear Wedge, and through its proven performance in the field and demand from safety directors for a heeled sole we created the MAXWear 90. Both the MAXWear Wedge and MAXWear 90 offer superior comfort and durability on the job compared to the competition. Feel the comfort in every trusted step with our MAXWear Wedge and put your trust in the MAXWear 90 when climbing ladders or uneven terrain. Thorogood MAXWear outsoles have you covered.

I have put these boots through hell and high water and they do not give up. They ONLY thing I had to replace was the insoles because I wore them out. I would recommend these boots to everyone. Even after 1 year of working almost everyday for 10-12 hours, they still feel and fit amazing. The best boots I've ever owned hands down. Buy them right now. You won't regret it.
Onward, the fit and comfort is amazing. I have never worn a pair of steel safety to shoes that were comfortable out of the box. I don’t think there is a need for break in. Bottom line, I’m amazed and happy with my purchase thus far. I have not had the opportunity to test them out yet, but I have faith that they will perform.
My first pair lasted about about a year and a half, and even then the leather was in pretty good condition, the strings were a little frayed but the soles were worn out. I guess I could have had them resoled, but i didnt feel like going through
The first picture I attached is the day they came in, the second and third ones are a month after use, the fourth one is eight months, and the last three are 11 months.
So yeah these boots didn’t even last me a whole year, before they started falling apart and letting water get in. Now it is important to take note of my job environment. I work in a corrugated box manufacturing warehouse, and the machine I’m on is a flexographic printing press. This important to know because, everyday I am dealing with ink, soap, water and all kinds of chemicals. I can’t think of day I’ve ended my shift with ink on my boots. My boots are constantly getting ink, spilled on them, and they are always wet. This ink (along with the other chemicals out there) are know you eat away at crap you leave them on. So I think this was ultimately the demise of my boots, I didn’t take care of them well, so I’m sure if I was to wash them off at the end of my shift they would’ve lasted longer. Which is why I’m still giving them 4 stars, cause the stuff I deal with eats at metal, and paint....
That being said the boots where great while they lasted, totally water proof, went home with dry feet everyday. They were pretty comfy, but I have pretty high arches so they stock insoles weren’t enough for me. If you have high arches like me, go ahead and buy some new insoles with the boots.
All in all, they are good boots, and I would recommend them. I didn’t take care of mine properly so they fell apart. If you are getting ink, soap, and chemicals on your boots everyday, just clean them off at the end of your day, and they should last. You don’t have to do any crazy cleaning just don’t let that stuff sit.

I am a mechanic so if these boots fail to hold up (which from personal research I am pretty confident they will last a very long time) then I will update this review.
There isn't much more I can say as everything so far has been superb. Even the box the boots came in was fantastically built and designed. I know exactly what some of you are thinking. "Why are they so expensive" because with work boots you simply get what you pay for, when you buy cheap boots you will regret it when you're 50 years old and can't walk properly and bend. So treat yourself and get yourself a pair of these boots.
EDIT: These boots are now 8 months old and have been maintained well. I came across a rip in the boot near the ball of the foot, this was only on the one boot and the other boot is fine. I believe this to be a manufacturer defect as I have not neglected these boots or worn them in any environment which could possibly damage them. I contacted the seller and they won't do anything because their return policy is for 30 days. However, thorogoods return policy is 1 year. All registered retailers must abide with the 1 year return policy, and considering this seller doesn't provide that warrenty I wouldn't recommend.
