'... For Those in Peril on the Sea is not a mere imitator of currently popular zombie books and films. Drysdale's novel proves different and superior in concept as well as content. The infected are unusual in ways that make them seem terrifyingly real, and the idea of the survivors being trapped offshore is an imaginative and effective twist. ...' About the Author
As a marine biologist, Colin M. Drysdale has spent plenty of time at sea with no land in sight but he is always glad when he finally gets back to shore. This novel is inspired by a thought that often plagues him during his voyages. What would he do if something happened while he was away and he could never go back?

What to do? Where to go?
This is a movie worthy novel. Told from the point of view of Rob, a seasoned mariner, it is easy to see a Kevin Costner-esque figure fitting the role. Colin Drysdale crafts Rob into a strong but reluctant leader, intelligent and quick thinking, absolutely trustworthy and honorable. I would absolutely want to be on his boat when living at sea means total survival.
All in all worth a read but has the feeling of someone who is rushing to tell a story without doing all the research or putting real thought into characters and realistic outcomes. (How does the whole of Miami get set on fire? Bush fire + napalm + strong natural winds + crazy arsonists maybe?)
The offshore perspective and the quality of the narrative is what makes this a five-star read. And to give credit, the author concocts a credible premise for the world turning into zombies. A rarity in zombie reads.
One thing I did keep wishing for was a little more zombie anhilalation. It seemed like everytime the humans and zombies clashed, the zombies won. It got a little boring.
All-in-all, well worth your time zombie-istas. DL and enjoy.
All together in one book, how wonderful is that?
The author knew his boating and his geography of the area to wrap the reader up like a kipper in a delightful but maybe too short novel.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and am looking forward to the next part of the trip. Don't leave us hanging round in the Abacos Colin, we need to know how this all pans out. I wont ask what we need to find out as I don't want to give anything away in this book. Go read it yourselves and then nag him for part two.
