Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
"Those summer nights" is a perfect summer read. Set on beautiful Corfu (judged from the book as I have never been there) it tells the story of brother and sister, Harry and Imogen, building up a restaurant at the waterside.
I had some difficulties with a few characters in the beginning, especially Imogen and Panos. Both were quite distant and Panos had a very arrogant and cocky behaviour. To the end I liked them a bit more, the romance was cute but they never really got my friends.
But there are some amzing side characters, especially Panos grandma Elpida. I loved her crazy and humorous character.
I also enjoyed the island atmosphere a lot. It wasn't only the summer feeling with sunshine and beach but also the hospitality and standing together of the little village.
Oh, and all the glorious food talk, it definitely got me hungry several times.
I liked the author's writing style. I was an easy and fun read. Let the summer begin...
Then I randomly come across this book by an author I had never heard of and after seeing that it took place in Greece (which has been on the top of my bucket list for quite some time), I thought I would give it a shot. It was the best decision I have made in awhile.
Mandy's writing was so well developed I felt like I was living each experience for myself. With the chemistry between Imogen and Panos, you couldn't help but have physical reaction to what you were reading (and if I am being truly honest, a little jealousy too).
I found myself laughing out loud so often and feeling what those characters must have felt. I wanted these charters to be real so I could go meet them. I wanted more. I want to see Panos propose (just a thought for a sequel) and see where their life together takes them.
I know many people put a synopsis on here but I am not going to do it because I want you all to experience this whole book yourself. I realize romance novels are a dime a dozen these days but I want you to take a chance on this one. You won't regret it!
I look forward to reading more by this wonderful author.
The writing definitely makes you feel like you I are in Greece on the beach.
