It starts before RIDE does and then mixes up the POVs and shows us what is happening through Nicole's eyes as well as Duke and we re-visit with how Alex (Princess) was taken into the club and embraced as family after her tragic abduction and beating. You get bits and pieces from the first book as well as the whole relationship between Lost Girl Nicole and sexy as hell badass Duke.
OK...I have read some of the other reviews and how upset some readers were with the violence against women and the multiple sex partners etc. etc. and all I can say is THIS IS A BIKER BOOK...not a sweet little romance! The world of the MCs is gritty and tough and unlawful and profane and dirty as hell and that is what makes this book so effing exciting to read. I don't want to read a boring little romance that could be my next door neighbor's life story...I want sexy, raunchy and bowels of the earth escapism and when an alpha male biker throws his bitch up against a wall and pounds her you-know-what all to hell...I want to be there and feel it! Thrash has this excitement to it and so much more!
This book rocked my world and the little "cliffie/twist" at the end of second to last chapter...UGH...I just KNOW it's coming to play in another book!! Great sequel...if you LOVED Ride as much as I did...grab Thrash! You won't regret it =)
*****5***** creative ways to use a wrench and screwdriver stars =)
I knew this book was going to be great. From the moment I read the synopsis, my expectations went from "looking forward to read it" to "HIGH ALERT, CANT WAIT FOR THE BOOK TO COME OUT" and boy, it didn't disappoint.
While I enjoyed "Alex and Ryan" story VERY MUCH, I LOVED the way this book was written. This is the third book I read this week, which intertwines the story from the first book with the second, as if they were happening simultaneously. It is a must, to read the first book "RIDE" Otherwise, the reader Might be kind of lost and will not appreciate the writing or the story as much.
The story of Alex and Ryan in "Ride" was one full of anxiety, and danger, intrigue, and even kind of a prohibit love, (which I loved by the way). However, the story of Nicole and Duke...despite the continuous frame with the mafia drama, it had another hue. It is based more on the insecurities, lack of confidence, lack of commitment and compromise. Two strong personalities Competing among each other to proof the other one wrong or weaker, just because neither of them want to budge.
I couldn't put it down. I spent an entire day reading this book non stopped, and when I finished, I wanted more. Not even the cliffhanger made me angry, because my mind was still reeling with the story.
I hope, no...I know! the next book will be as good as this one. Kudos for you Mrs. Emery.
Thrash is the first book by JC Emery that I have read - I didn't notice it was the 2nd in a series so I will catch up and read book 1 as well since book 2 had me hooked!
I loved Duke and Nicole! The way they pushed and pulled at each other was fun to read! She didn't take his alpha male and bend over for him, instead sticking to her guns and making him fight for it. It gave way for an interesting storyline!
I was also hooked on the bits and pieces we got of the side characters Ryan and Alex and can't wait to see where there story takes them!
