It's the story of a girl who grew up on a ranch in Jackson Hole with three brothers from the age of 13 until she leaves for college and then doesn't return until 7 years after that. We never get to experience any of the younger years with the three brothers, only the time she spends with them after the 7 years when she's summoned by the middle brother, Chance, because his father (her stepfather) is gravely ill. She doesn't return to the ranch for 7 years because supposedly one of the brothers broke her heart? I guess?? In any event, I felt like the author wanted the reader to have these deep connections with these characters right off the bat. Unfortunately, we never truly get to know them or care about them because we're never authentically given the opportunity to become invested. I kept trying to push myself to keep reading because I thought it might get better, but at 85%, I was still bored and even confused and not really caring!
Another aspect of this book that annoyed me is that there are zero love scenes. I don't need every book to be Fifty Shades of Grey, but something romantic or sexy would have been greatly appreciated. I never really felt the difference between the brothers and her lover. Everyone seemed sibling-like. There was no heat, just a lot of death, depression, and just about zero passion.
I feel like the author needed to go back and flesh out these characters and the story as a whole. Not to mention, there were quite a few grammatical errors and mistakes where the author used the wrong characters name at the wrong time. For example she'd say, "Chance raised an eyebrow" when really she meant to say "Chase raised an eyebrow." Not a huge deal, but it's distracting. I don't feel like there's an excuse for that, makes me feel like the author doesn't care! The names were all really similar too so that sometimes got confusing!
I wouldn't recommend this book, it just seemed really amateurish and slow. Sorry!
This was a pretty well written story with some flow problems. All the characters were realized in reality. They felt familiar. I just feel the warm and fuzzy parts were rushed over and then it ended. This had potential to be an epic romance but it petered out in the end.
This book was a decent read for the money. It wasn't exceptional by any means and there was one decent plot twist, but one reason they gave for Conn's behavior towards Scout was lame.
Also the use of the names Chase and Chance were so confusing that even the author got it wrong at least once in the book.
It was your typical romance novel of girl meets boys; falls for the wrong one (who we later find out pushes her away for some altruistic reason); then find love with the right boy.
At a discounted price, it's worth the read.
Well, I fished this book.
I cried my eyes just before the end.
Oh the f***ing feels.
This book was a rollercoaster of emotions and I had no idea which one it would hand out next.
I loved it.
This will probably be one of my favorite books I read this year.
Returned for a refund.
Characters . The first half of the book was about a 2.5 star read but got better toward the end.
This is definitely not a steamy read just an fyi not that it had anything to do with the rating.
