Fans will remember Scott Morgan as the voice of The Rationals, one of those great Michigan rock bands of the late 1960s/early 1970s. After releasing a clutch of singles for Jeep Holland's A2 label, the band finfally were given studio time for an LP. The Rationals album and its single "Guitar Army" withstand the test of time quite nicely. But Scott certainly didn't stop there. Solo work was followed by a 5 year stint in Sonic's Rendzvous Band, a virtual Detroit "super group" with MC5 guitarist, Fred (Sonic) Smith on guitar and vocals, Scott on guitar ( incredibly nice guitar work.as well as gorgeous vocals. They were joined by Gary Rasmussen, bassist of The Up, and "Rock Action" Ashton, of Stooges fame on drums. The band's recorded legacy is almost entirely composed of live recordings, with a severe shortage of studio recordings unfortunately. But there are lots of gems galore in this gorgeous 3 cd clam shell anthology of Scott's 40 plus years in the music industry. As with Sonic's Rendezvous Band's 6 cd set on Easy Action, which is back in print now, the presentation is excellent with a 28 page booklet filled with track annotations and gorgeous photos among other things. The sound quality is excellent making this another absolutely gotta have box set. Why is it that the Brits seem to have their heads together so much more than their American counterparts? Anyway, grab this box set while it is available at reasonable prices, insert disc one into your player and be transported to Detroit ca. 1970. And be ready to rock your socks off!

Is there a more criminally under-recognized rock artist than Scott Morgan? Hopefully this set will go a little way in educating folks. Having already purchased almost all of Morgan's catalog, I hesitated about buying this, but am soo glad I finally laid down the shekels. A top-shelf selection of material, much of it rare or previously unreleased, excellent remastering -- just a totally well-done overview of one of the music's greatest, most soulful artists. If high energy rock & soul music with integrity, intelligence and no punches pulled is your thing, then this is your thing. Don't delay, buy it today, you're gonna like the way it sounds, I guarantee it.

The reason I gave this a 4, is this album is for someone who knows Scott's music and is a fan. This is pure Detroit rock n roll! Scott Morgan and other Detroit rockers from this period are often overlooked. This set covers his career from the Rationals to now! There are some real gems in here,a acoustic version of "City Slang" , Electrophonic tonic,,Asteroid B612,I got a right,16 with a bullet, these songs deliver a punch like nothing else! You won't experience this level of energy anywhere else. This makes groups like the Foo fighter sound like elevator music. A lot of bang for the buck!

Love love love this! So much talent and a killer voice! Back in 1966 when I was at the tender age of 11, sitting in front of the TV hearing and seeing the Rationals on Swinging' Time, I knew on some level I was witnessing something awesome! Scott Morgan covering "Respect" and "I Need You", nothing short of brilliant. Those cuts just scratch the surface of what this amazing collection has to offer. I am in awe of the chameleon-like qaulity and style of Scott's vocals through the span of these three discs! Can you guess I vote a "highly recommended" ? Yea, Detroit. (And Ann Arbor).
