Alex is a Greek chef. His family, the Santerini's own a restaurant in town as well as the next town over. They have been in the business for generations and Alex is the new generation to take over the role. It is not exactly what he wanted for his life but it is family and everything is about family. He doesn't feel he really has a choice. Otherwise he is pretty happy with his life. At the wedding of his mother to Daniel Kilcannon he meets Grace Donovan, the owner of the winery where their wedding takes place. She doesn't really give him any encouragement but he is determined to get her attention. She resist.
At that same wedding, her chef quits and walks out on her. She goes to his little cottage to beg him not to leave as she has a big interview coming up with a celebrity couple looking for a venue. At the cottage she finds three young puppies. She has no idea where they came from or what to do with them.
But the day is saved when Alex walks up looking for an item his granny lost while attending the wedding. Since dogs are the Kilcannon's business, he gets Grace and the three pups in his car and takes them to the big dog facility.
From that point on they are thrown together. Turns out Alex is a trained chef from French schools and he knows how to cook. She is beyond thrilled and talks him into working for her. Just want he wants, he now has her attention.
I LOVED this story. It has everything I love in a romance. A strong sexy hero, a strong, independent heroine. A few issues they both need to work through. And then there are all the family secrets that have Gracie and Alex solving to help Gracie find who she really is. The secrets were great and once they were on the trail it is hard to lay the book down. I couldn't. I just kept reading until I had been at it for almost 4 hours. WELL WORTH EVERY MINUTE. So far, this may be my favorite DOG book. I loved it. Well done Ms. St. Claire.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 11/10/2019.
No Dogmothers’ story will be complete without the presence of a furry friend. In this episode my heart was stolen by 3 abandoned puppies and in true Kilcannon – Santorini – Mahoney’s way, they must be saved and reunited with their parent (furry and human alike). Alex and Gracie story is a slowburn; wild, emotional rollercoaster. As a reader you may be laughing out loud at certain moments and fighting tears at the turn of the next page. This is the kind of book I personally enjoy, those where show how life can be dark and sad and turn to a carnival next. This is Roxanne St. Claire signature and sincerely she continues to get better and better.
Three Dog Night can be read as a standalone but is full of cameos of our beloved friends from The Dogfather and Dogmothers series. I’ll recommend to read at least Hot Under the Collar (The Dogmothers book 1) for maximum enjoyment but no matter what this is a Five shinning star read.
I received an ARC and these are my sincere and honest thoughts. Also, I purchased the book to help the non-kill Alaqua Animal Refuge in my home state of FL and most important because my collection will be incomplete without it.
Each book has that special element of bringing dogs and humans together. In this book, three sweet little puppies bring many people together. When Grace finds them, it changes her life forever.
The portrayal of Grace was so perfect in how people who grow up as she did build walls to protect themselves. Alex is her perfect counterpoint. He is fun and easy and though he has issues others may not realize, he is perfect to help Grace expand her life and enjoy it more fully. Grace’s insistence the puppies not be separated is a brilliant way to convey her belief that family is sacred and should remain together. As she interacts with Alex’s family, it reinforces her beliefs and makes her even more adamant that if the owners aren’t found, they be adopted together. A daunting task for anyone to take on three puppies at once. Who is willing to take on that challenge?
This book has lots of twists and turns that will keep you on your toes. It has weddings, winemaking, and rowdy family. It has very good people that always do the right thing. When Grace has the opportunity of a lifetime to prove she has the perfect wedding venue for that special couple, Alex’s family jumps in to help. It has very bad people that always do the wrong thing. Bad people trying to profit from the puppies and their mother. Best of all it has people like Grace and Alex that are willing to adjust to what life throws at them and come out all the better for it. I’ve read this twice already, and I guarantee I will read it again. It’s just that good.

It's a fascinating tale where you laugh a little and you cry a little, tears of sadness and joy. If this book is typically of this author then I can't wait too read more of her books.
Rocki I am constantly amazed at how you think of new "tails" for every story!
