Ever since I heard that RNB heavyweights Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank were forming a super-group, I have been patiently waiting for the album: Three Kings. From seeing the video of them signing the record contract, to the release of their first official video, it seemed to take an eternity for the album to come around.

Fast forward to the present day and I've been lucky enough to have owned the album for the past week (I got it sent to me ridiculously early) so I feel adequate enough to give a honest review of it.

TGT-Three Kings

-Take it wrong- The opening track starts with Ginuwine singing and Tyrese kicking off the first verse . Its a mid tempo song and even has Black Ty rapping over it. Black Ty is Tyreses rapping name. The production is tight on this song and is an excellent opener for the album.

-No fun- This is another mid tempo song featuring a rapper called Problem. It samples the famous song by Snoop Dog: It ain't no fun (if the homies can't have none). The theme of the song is TGT sharing women between themselves. All 3 sound really good on this track.

-Sex ain't never felt better- The first single off the album and a classic already. I won't go into detail on this one as most people will have heard it. I will say though towards the end of the track, it has a Jodeci feel to it..bringing that old 90s sound back.

-I need- Again, another single from the album and one of my favorites. It sounds like a classic 90s RNB love song. All 3 members sound excellent on this song and you can tell they gave it 100% although Ginuwine definitely brings it on this song in his verse. PURE FIYA

-Next time around- A slower track with starts with Tyrese singing, production is good on this song as well.

Twenty years ago, male groups in R&B music were a dominant force in radio. However as music changed, the male R&B groups seemed to become a thing of the past. Outside of Boyz II Men Day 26 and Jagged Edge, there hasn't really been anything come to out on the market from a male R&B group as I don't consider Mint Condition, a group as they more of a band. All that changes with the release of the debut album from TGT entitled 3 Kings. Composed of R&B superstars Tank, Ginuwine & Tyrese the group first made headlines back in 2007 when all three appeared on a remix to group's member Tank's hit single Please Don't Go. Talked about for the past seven years, the group finally came to fruition earlier this year with the lead single Sex Ain't Never Felt Better, followed by the heartfelt I Need. Three Kings is R&B music at it's finest. This isn't album filled with bottle poppin club songs or guest appearances; this is an album highlighting singing. There isn't one up-tempo song on the album as the album filled with slow jams and ballads. Slow jam standouts include Explode, FYH, OMG and No Fun, while on the ballad side Our House and Running Back are equally impressive. All in all this is a fine album and easily one of the best mainstream R&B albums in recent memory. While the album may not go over well with those who want to dance, those looking for a mood setter and ready to make some babies need to look no further than 3 Kings!

I had to purchase this album after hearing some cuts and rarely do I find an album where every song is a winner so this album is really special as every cut is just that. Individually each artist is an outstanding gem , TOGETHER THEY ARE AMAZING! They had a good idea to form a group because there sound is fantastic. Ladies you get to fall in love again 3x over and its a true pleasure hearing their voices every day which by the way I am playing this EVERYDAY ALL DAY LONG in my MP3 player. These guys should be proud of this release and I hope it bring them much success. I DEFINITELY GIVE THIS ALBUM 2 THUMBS WAAAAAAAY UP AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE PURCHASE.

I want to give kudos to Tank, Tyrese and Genuine. The album is just what the doctor ordered, HOWEVER!!!! There was no need to use the "F" word in several of the songs. I am an R&B queen. I love R&B music but at this time I would rather hear clean soothing ballads and if not for the use of the "F" word I would have rated this album a 5 star. There are many who most likely do not care and will purchase the album anyway and that is their choice, but at 56 years old I care not to listen to that kind of vocabulary in my home. Again the music is absolutely beautiful and I love Genuine's singing voice, but this is one CD that I will no longer listen to.

For this to be their first CD together and after all of they hype, I expected more. I also expected a more lyrically mature CD. With lyrics such as "it's no fun unless the homies get some," there is definitely some majority lacking. These are grown men still talking about sharing women. Not okay. Vocally, the CD is okay. There does seem to be a mild competition between them on a few tracks, but nothing too outrageous.
