James Marshall (1942-1992) created dozens of exuberant and captivating books for children, including THE STUPIDS, MISS NELSON IS MISSING!, and the ever-popular GEORGE AND MARTHA books. Before creating his canon of classic, hilarious children's books, James Marshall played the viola, studied French, and received a master's degree from Trinity College. He also doodled. It was the doodles, and the unforgettable characters that emerged from them, that led him to his life's work as one of the finest creators of children's books of the twentieth century. In 2007, James Marshall was posthumously awarded the Laura Ingalls Wilder medal for his lasting contribution to literature for children.

great series of books

Like others have stated if your kids like super why they they will like these books. I bought several of these in the series and my kids love singing the jingle from the show as it I read it in the book. The pull out flaps work great but can be torn easily if your little one isn't careful. The books are written after different episodes and follow the episode very closely. My only gripe about these books is that the text is very small, I'm in my 30's and if the lighting isn't good I have a hard time reading them. It gets worse when I'm tired and trying to read after a long day. Other than that they are a hit with the kids.

It has been nearly a year and he still enjoys it and I think he gets different things from it now that he's older and starting to understand phonics. It's a great learning show and the catch phrases are easy to remember and fun (like... when we want to know something we look... in a book!). Highly recommend it for toddlers. He started watching at 2 and now at 3 he still enjoys it and pulls these books out. There's also an iPhone app for this show that is very good. We have several of the stories and we like them all.

If you could put the TV show on paper- this is it. There are a lot of flip pages. The book can actually confuse your younger children. There is a lot going on it it! I recommend getting this for a child who can either read, or where you will absolutely be sitting with your child an going through it with them. The book is colorful and does true justice in telling the story just how it is on the show.
