Being the captain is not an easy job, when his stress levels start stressing everyone else, Sasha and Bo come up with a plan. Make David their friend with benefits. They will all have sex and relax David. The plan works pretty well. They all enjoy each other, David getting in deeper than he should. He always thought that when the off season comes they would move on and so would he. When David is hurt, they all realize there is no moving on.
This story flowed really well, taking these men from friends, too lovers, too more. Their interactions were natural and and believable. Nice story.
i enjoy hockey and the book gave me lots of game plays as the backdrop for the building relationship with these guys. i have read book one, Soft Hands, but i think this one could be read as a stand-alone. I did enjoy seeing the guys from the first book make appearances in this one.
Just a little side note: I loved seeing glimpses of Jordie and Xander and that they're doing so well. I love the overall community of the Wendigo's: they've got each other's backs through the best and worst and are the kind of fictional family I love. Can't wait for the next installment <3
Bo is very outgoing, positive and energetic. His brain is always working to figure things out, and that includes how to lessen the stress in David’s life. Sasha and Bo work well together, with Sasha’s more laid-back personality being a good complement to Bo. Sasha agrees that David needs to lighten up and relax, and he’s all for Bo’s idea on how to help that happen. David? Well he’s already attracted to both Bo and Sasha, but always at the forefront of his mind is “what happens when this is over?”, even as he falls further and further down the rabbit hole.
The three of them work very well together, there’s no doubt about not just their physical chemistry but also their emotional as well. The intimate scenes are passionate and sometimes downright dirty, and written well enough to feel like all three are equal.
The story is written in third person, present tense which for me was a bit distracting—I’m much more comfortable reading past tense, and my brain kept wanting to rewrite sentences in my head that way. It’s told from all three men’s points of view which I was very happy about since it gave more depth to the story. But since the story is in third person present tense, that meant that I sometimes confused whose point of view was being told and would have to go back a page or two to double check. This might just be a “me” thing, but is part of the distraction I experienced while reading.
Overall I thought this was somewhere between a 3.5- and 4-star read, primarily due to the third person/present tense thing, but also because until the very end of the story the reality of not just Bo and Sasha being together, but the three of them as well, was not brought up in any kind of public context, even among their teammates. And once it is brought up—in a highly public way at the absolute end of the story—we’re not given any chance to get the reactions of anyone to them being together, so their relationship in this story is very insulated.
If you’re a hockey romance fan, M/M romance fan, or M/M/M fan, especially if you like a lot of hot sex scenes in your books, you’ll want to put this one on your list to read. This book is meant for readers 18+ for adult language and sexual content.
