Up nextis another standalone about a character who's been in and out of books in myRook & Ronin and Dirty, Dark, and Deadly "worlds" for over a year now.Merc's book will be a dark erotica. MUCH darker than this. So if this was notyour thing, skip that one. I will have the sexy, fun Social Media spin-offsgoing all summer and into the fall. So if you like that stuff more, it's allgood. I can write whatever you want. Just not all the time.;) I like the dark stuff, the twisted stuff, and the fun stuff too. So I willwrite them as they come to me.

Three characters.
Two male; Ark and JD.
One female; Blue.
One cold, wet morning Ark and JD stumble across a girl in the street. Hiding out by a store. She is wearing a skimpy summer dress, no shoes, and is soaked through, freezing. She is also scared, looking like she has been through hell.
Both men feel compelled to go to her, once they first see her. Ark first (important factor in the story) followed by JD.
"I saw her first, OK?" I look up at Matheson and he nods. "I saw her first and that's all you need to know."
So we know that Ark & JD, are both stupidly gorgeous, but totally opposites of each other. Ark with his dark hair, eyes, and brooding, deep appearance. JD is blonde, blue eyes, warm smile for everyone.
Ark and JD run their own business, but this business is not conventional. It's make them a huge ton of money, but they had to work for it, the work they have done is lacking in morals, standards, perhaps even conscience.
I won't go on to say what they do, but they want to help Blue. They see a troubled girl, and want to know what happened to her. They make her an offer, something that will get her some quick cash.
I have nothing. Literally nothing but the dress and panties I'm wearing and the two hundred dollars. That's not enough to make a difference. But five hundred more can. Five hundred more changes everything for me.
Blue is overwhelmed, she has been held in captivity for fifteen months. She is now free, and she has no idea what to do. The things done to her, have changed her considerably. She is nowhere near the person she used to be. She is now frightened of many things, many situations, most people. But, she also now has different needs. The abuse inflicted on her, has now left her craving different things. It's normal to her now, it's the way she has been conditioned.
"We're going to start from the beginning, Blue. So long as you keep talking, I'll keep touching. And if your story rings true, if you tell me real things, I'll give you what you want."
So, Blue heads to the stunning penthouse of these two gorgeous, rich, and secretive strangers, and from there nothing will ever be the same, for any of them.
I absolutely loved the sound of this book, 1-clicked it straight away, but just couldn't get around to reading it. I had to hear everyone talking about it, a huge mix up of opinions. Some loved it, some hated it, some just couldn't understand it.
So I finally started it the other night, and I was stupidly excited. The start packed a punch, and I was happy to think it was going to be fast paced, dark, edgy, and exactly what I hoped it would be.
I must admit, I did have my own little issues with parts of it. I found the characters to be confusing sometimes, maybe it was just me. But they were a little up and down, hot and cold, with what they wanted. One minute madly in love, then all of a sudden that would change. But like I said, that could of just been me. The ending took a huge turn, and suddenly the pace picked up big style, which was good but I got a little lost on the ride. I had to keep re-reading paragraphs, just to try and get my head around what was going on. But, I will say I ended up staying up reading this really late, so it just could of been my sleepy foggy head, not making the sense out of it, that I normally would.
Despite those little things, I did absolutely love this story. It was unique, clever, incredibly twisty, and stupidly hot. The intensity and full on dirtiness of the sex scenes, in this book were smoking hot. They weren't conventional, and perhaps not to every bodies taste, when reading. But, the atmosphere of them, was thick with heavy arousal. I really actually loved how different they were. When you read a stupid amount of books, with 99.9% of them having a looooot of sex in. It's actually a breath of fresh air, to find a book where things are a little shaken up, and a little different. Probably why I love dark books, they don't keep things boring and repetitive.
It wasn't just the sex scenes that were different, and clever in this book. Everything about it was incredibly. From the captivating writing, that literally had me glued to every word, unable to put it down. To the story, which was really different, it pushed boundries, and came up different and addictive. I couldn't work all the twists, turns, and secrets out either, I was floored by certain reveals. They were really clever, and thought out well.
The characters were perfect, I wasn't overly keen on JD, not idea why, but right from the start, I wasn't sure about him. I think, because he was the lovable rogue with his sexy smile, his ability to have all girls dropping their panties within a 5 mile radius, I just didn't trust him. He was a fantastic character, don't get me wrong. But he wasn't my choice. I loved Arc, he was perfect. Dark, mysterious, unbelievably in control of every situation. Hiding behind his camera. He was my favourite by far.
Blue, hmmm I loved so much about her, and was annoyed by her in equal measures. I loved her character, but I felt she played both the men, like the innocent act, could of been just that, an innocent act. But, she was still fantastic to read as a main character.
It's the most beautiful moment I've had in my entire life.
She is not one lost girl.
We are not two best friends.
We are one trinity of perfection.
The ending was wow! Just that. Shocking, sad, but ultimately, really good. I was satisfied with how it all played out. An awesome good read. Well recommended to those who like their dark and twisty stories, and like things a bit risky and different.
My heart is shattered. Not in two pieces, but three.
5 stars!!
Ark and JD are two men who collect public sex acts on tape for porn websites. They have been business partners for four years, having met the first night Ark stepped off a bus in Denver and rescued JD from a 4-on-1 beat down. JD is the star of the public sex tapes, and they recruit only legal, disease free women to perform. Ark is a master videographer and runs all the logistics of their operation. They have made millions of dollars in porn over the past four years, but it hasn't been easy. JD has a dark past which includes a (recovered) drug addiction, a dead girlfriend and a missing daughter. They are weeks away from the culmination of their plan to open their own porn website when they meet a half-naked, shivering woman sitting in the rain on an early October morning.
Unable to score their required quota of public sex tapes for the week, JD attempts to cajole the woman into starring in their movie--she clearly needs cash--and she accepts. But, it's raining and she's freezing and looks strung out. They end up taking her to their penthouse around the corner, and that's when Ark knows his life is about to change.
The woman, who they call Blue on account of her blue eyes, has been through extreme trauma--her body bears the welts and scars of beating--tell-tale scars of BDSM/rough trade sex play. When she becomes cognizant she confesses running away from a cult which had kept her as a captive sex slave for the past 15 months. Blue had been attempting to help her childhood friend escape from an baby-selling ring but got sucked into it, instead. She is broken and unwilling to attempt to return to her past life, afraid to embarrass her high-profile parents. Ark agrees to give her sanctuary in the condo he and JD share, but the attraction between them is magnetic. JD has no compunction about his interest, but Blue wants more than JD, she wants Ark, too, and Ark's not down for a menage. At first. Ark is more than interested in Blue, but he's not a "sharer" and he's seen JD in action with women--he's rough which is not Ark's style even if it plays well in porn. Blue's extreme agorophobia is unsettling, and the brand on her neck sends JD into a dark headspace--his girlfriend was branded just the same way, and their baby stolen, sold to adoptive parents. The questions about Blue's history begin to be revealed, and mutual connections in the porn industry start answering JD's long-desired inquests regarding the whereabouts of his daughter.
As the time winds, Blue and JD are able to entice Ark into committing to a menage. Ark is, himself, always slightly removed from the emotional aspect, and he fears that JD will hurt Blue--he's seen it before. JD enjoys very rough sex, and Blue's emotionally frail. But the shoe really drops when Ark arrives home to find some very abusive kink happening in his absence.
The mystery of JD's guilty past, Blue's quest for justice and Ark's absent history all resolve in the final 10% of the book. It's a carefully revealed mystery, with plenty of misdirection. There is a lot of sex, but little of it felt erotic. I think this was because scenes told from Ark's POV were lacking emotionally, which was in line with his character. He was obsessive and controlling and holding too many secrets (of his own and JD's) to allow for a full connection between himself, JD and Blue for a very long time. That isn't a criticism. I enjoyed the way the characters interacted, and how the subtle foreshadowing built up to a seriously good payoff. This is a book that keeps the reader guessing, and waiting, and knowing that something REALLY REALLY bad is coming and hoping that it will all just work out.
Spoiler: it doesn't. Not exactly.
There is a positive resolution where the baddies are brought to justice, and the guilty are punished, but it's not a sunny, hearts and flowers ending. The intrigue and twistedness of the characters is fascinating, however. And though the end isn't sunshine and rainbows, it's honest and real and good. I'd highly recommend.

I had heard recommendations in various book clubs about how great this book was so I took the plunge…
I have literally finished reading 3 minutes ago and I am a wreck, I thought I knew how this read would end, I thought the hotness would be off the charts (which it was) but I was not prepared to get so invested in the emotion of 3 people and their story of how they came to be where they were. The feelings this read evoked in me from page to page cannot be explained unless you read it and I highly recommend you do, individually they all had a story and it was both heartbreaking and beautiful. The ending just killed me 💔💔 this was not the read I thought it would be, it was so much more and will stay with me for a long, long time. A truly must read.

5 stars!!
“Not everything should come in three’s.”
Holy moly, I don’t know how I can put into words what I have just read, but seriously, JA Huss can certainly write M/F/M. I had a lot of “freezer” time while reading this book, my kindle wanted to combust, it was insanely HOT, but incredibly beautiful at the same time.
Ark, JD and Blue…there is so much we know about them and yet so much we don’t. A story weaved around secrets, yet sometimes frank openness. But what we do have are three souls that found each other, they were in the right place at the right time, would this be their saving grace or would it be their ultimate downfall?
“You’re gonna lose her if you don’t give in.”
“Give in to what?”
“Us. The three of us, Ark. This is how it’s meant to be. You knew it the minute we found her.”
This is by far my favourite book of JA Huss, not only do we have an underlying horrific, yet beautiful story but we have the suspense, the mystery and the intrigue gluing this entire story together. Not only gluing the story, but gluing my hands to my kindle, I could not put this book down. I was swept away by their story, my heart was pounding for many different reasons, I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I fanned and I panicked, but at the end all I could think about was what a fantastic story I had just read.
I really cannot go into details, this is one of those books that you need to read blind, go in with an open mind and let the story over take you. I was glad that I had not read anything about it, because as soon as I opened the pages, I was just blown away and transported into their world and their bubble.
This is a book that makes you think, not only about the circumstances and scenarios that are unfurling before your eyes but I found myself trying to piece everything together. Some things made sense and some things didn’t so I had questions, lots of questions. I was constantly trying to read between the lines, I had my own theories and it wasn’t until the end that things finally started to make sense and you get your light bulb moments.
This is by no means a traditional romance, it is dark and gritty and in places raw and it will certainly pull at your emotions, yet when it was just the three of them the whole book changes for just those scenes. I was flooded with warmth, need and desperation, these three just clicked, it was like destiny and fate had brought them together and as a unit they were seemingly perfect.
“I want love,. I want it all ways too. I want the pain and the pleasure. I want the good and the bad. I want the light and the dark.”
Ark was the sensible one, yet he was incredibly intrinsic, he kept a lot to himself and he obviously had secrets, secrets that even his best friend JD didn’t know. He was the brooding one, the man behind the lens and certainly uncomfortable in front of it. He was incredibly appealing though, secretive, enigmatic but fiercely loyal and protective but what was really underneath those suits?
“I saw her first…”
JD was more the jack the lad, he was hilarious at times but extremely broken, he had lost and lost hard and had a lot of guilt on his shoulders, Ark was his salvation, a chance meeting leading to best friends and these two were tight. Ark always knew what JD needed and when, he was the angel on JD’s shoulder and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for him. They seemingly saved each other.
“We are polar. I am north and he is south. We are equal and opposites in almost every way imaginable. We are this and that. Black and white. Rough and calm.”
Blue just happened to be in the right place at the right having escaped a living hell. She was lucky to have been found by Ark and Blue. In the first instance maybe their reasons were not the best but it soon becomes apparent there is more between these three. Blue constantly needs reassurance, she needs to feel protected and these two men cocoon her the only way they know how. They say sex sells, but it can also put a lot of band aids on a lot of hurts.
“Selling sex is dirty. Selling sex is filthy. Selling sex is lucrative.”
When these three were together the pages ignited, you could feel their dynamic changing, you could see the characters changing and you always had that sense of deep foreboding even though everything seemed perfect when they were in their bubble. Their lives are scattered across the pages, out of order, out of sequence, but when you get to the point where you are nearly there, the pages are sorted you are dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s, those final edits, it all clicks together, you can see the bigger picture. JA Huss delivers that moment with jaw dropping clarity, suddenly it makes sense but then how can this end?
“She is not one lost girl. We are not two best friends. We are the trinity of perfection.”
Fantastic book, one that I will not forget for a long time and will certainly be re-reading. Go 1click, but read in private, steamy scenes ahead!
“One girl.
Two friends.
Three soul mates.”

I'm not sure how I feel about Three Two One, it was a book that captured my attention from page one, but I kind of felt a bit guilty about it doing so. Ultimately it's a story about three kind of messed up people falling in love and becoming even more messed up, and that's without adding in the sex. As each chapter progressed there were more mysteries added than were solved and I found I wanted to know the answers.
So...let's start at the ending. Honestly I had no idea what was coming from page to page, so the ending itself was a complete mystery to me until it happened. Even looking back I don't think I could have seen it coming, and that was a good thing. It meant that I was never trying to guess how things would end and ultimately I enjoyed the story more for that. As to the ending itself, I thought that it worked well, personally I was happy with it.
I'm guessing you could kind of call Three Two One a whole book about a love triangle. The three characters were in a sort of triad but it was clear that there was still a little bit of competition going on. I did like to see that the two men weren't so cringey about touching each other as most are in menages, but at the same time I never had a sense of it lasting as a triad.
What I found particularly interesting was that though they were all in it together I had a favourite coupling. That doesn't normally happen with me in this kind of book (but it does when love triangles are involved). And I genuinely thought that Ark was better for Blue in the long run.
Now the sex scenes...so I may have been a bit worried that my kindle may set on fire due to hotness. But there was also a part of me that was thinking that it wasn't right that the scenes were so hot, particularly in the beginning when ultimately Blue was being taken advantage of. It was strange, but did work well with the story line.
Three Two One was defintiely an enjoyable read, though at times I wondered what kind of person I was to be enjoying it! Definitely different, and I definitely loved the fact that I had no idea how it would end until it did!
Challenges: 2015 New Release Challenge

I love a book that plays with my mind and this one certainly doesn't disappoint there.
There's no big back story or lengthy explanations at the start and this works for me, it all adds to the intrigue.
The writing is amazing it draws you in and doesn't let go. I connected with the characters in such a way that it was like a movie playing in my mind as I was reading. I couldn't switch it off, it was there constantly, my brain trying to process all what was happening and make sense of the secrets.
I didn't have a clue what was going on, just when I thought I had it sussed I was taken on another journey of intrigue.
It's unique, unpredictable, even unbelievable in a believable sort of way.
I loved that the chapters alternated between Ark and Blue, do wish we could have got JD's point of view though.
When the pieces all started coming together I was literally on the edge of my seat with my jaw on the floor! How,why,what......no way!!
It had me worried for a while which way it would go and then the ending happened and it was perfection.
This is my first book from this author and I'm already looking for the next. Cannot recommend highly enough :)
