Uttering a forbidden spell, a druid resurrects her murdered king. But can they reclaim his throne before Death reclaims him?
When high school English teacher Hugh Cavendish is summoned back across the well between worlds, he finds his killer sitting on his throne and invaders at his shore. He was a failure as a king in his last life. Why does this druid think he can fix things now? But this world holds everything he has longed for—vengeance, love, and a second chance at all of them. For he is bound to this land by blood magic and something far stronger.
He soon realizes he wasn't the only one who crossed the well. Someone has followed him here, and they are set on taking him back. But first, Cavendish vows to set things right with his land, his people, and his own soul.
For readers of Celtic legend and fantasy in the tradition of Marion Zimmer Bradley and Tad Williams.

Review
*Terry's stories immerse the reader in rich worlds peopled by complex characters that stay with you. - David Farland, author of the bestselling series, Runelords
*If you are a fan of Celtic literature, or have fond memories of To Green Angel Tower in particular, pick up Three Wells of the Sea as fast as you can. - New Myths Magazine
*For fans of the dual worlds of Stephen R. Donaldson's The Land and Stephen King's The Talisman. Let's welcome Terry Madden's Five Quarters to the world just outside the one we live in. It has a spark of wonder, indeed. - Rusty Clark
*I'm a sucker for a good portal-crossing adventure . . . I'm blown away by Madden's brilliant writing. The details in the two worlds are so rich and convincing it's almost like reading history -- though highly entertaining at the same time! Her characters are many-layered and relatable, and their challenges are truly of mythic proportions. --Mick Brady

About the authors
Winner of awards in both fiction and screenwriting, Terry has written historical and mainstream fiction, but her first love is speculative fiction. With Middle Earth and Earthsea as early inspirations, the Celtic shadow world known as the Five Quarters takes root in her series "Three Wells of the Sea."
Terry has worked in molecular biology and genetic research labs and currently teaches high school chemistry and astronomy. She enjoys sharing the night sky with young people and is as fascinated by ancient history and mythology as she is by terraforming and space exploration. A mash-up of these is a goal she has set for a future project.

Liked the way author wrote the protagonist's experience switching from the reality-present, to the alternative fantasy-present. I don't ever recall reading that style before, but it works to make me think what is happening might be in slow-motion or in a different reality. I didn't really get it at first, but the more I read then it became much easier to absorb. Really interesting way to tell the story, and I will be looking for this 'switch' in the upcoming books in the series.
Characters are strongly defined, and it is very cinematic in the telling. Can easily see this as a movie, I picture Mickey Rourke or Johnny Depp playing one of the colorful characters in the movie version. The tertiary characters are quite interesting, too, and I hope they will show up in the next books. Am pretty sure I will have to re-read this first book just before reading the next, in order to re-familiarize with all the characters and history.
Overall it was Well written with an interesting hook and concept. I will be rereading this book again.
I recieved this book at a discount in exchange for my honest review.
She fronts an essential of our human condition: we live in different worlds. It is always ourselves and the outside world, body and soul, inkwell and words, writer and words, words and story, story and reader, reality and fantasy, user and computer, man and machine, "conscious and subconscious," life and death, and maybe a few others.
Terry is a benevolent guardian of these wells that portal transitions, that dig into the our earth and find deep riches, that surface a fountain spring of delight. Well done!
The descriptions were marvelously well done with believable characters that I really cared about performing articulate and well thought-out story arcs and rituals that in total built a very compelling narrative. The tension rose nicely as the story progressed and left me with just enough of a cliffhanger that I want and need to read the next book that is hopefully coming in this series. Very Well Done!
