I received an arc copy in return for an honest review
Ben is finishing his Master degree and is ready to travel but before he can, he needs to see is advisor. He see that his advisor is with someone else but the door is cracked open a little so he can overhear their conversation. Ben hears a female voice crying and felt like he wanted to help her. He has ran into her twice and doesn't know her name so he calls her his Crying Girl.
Charlie is upset because she found her boyfriend with another girl. She visits with her father and tells him whats going on. Charlie has found out she is pregnant. After the baby is born, she is visiting her father again because her baby is sick. She gets up to leave and runs into Ben, he tells her he wants to take her pain away and she kisses him.
Now 6 years later, Ben is missing some credits in order to graduate. His advisor calls him and offers him a project, Make a Wish. The patient wants to learn how to make a movie for her mother before she dies.
Let's just say it's faith that brought Ben and Charlie back together. Feelings are running wild. Charlie is stubborn and doesn't want to rely on anyone. Secerts come out, Charlie's ex shows up.
You have to grab a copy and read it for yourself to see if Charlie and Ben get HEA or will others get in the way.
The only thing I wish that was more detailed was the last round of treatment for Ollie. But overall this book was good. You will be in tears so make sure you have a box of tissues nearby.
The story is about a man that steps out of his comfort zone to help someone else, a child with cancer that dreams of making a movie. A special skills he offers is the ability to teach the child about film making. The child has an amazingly grown up view of her disease and treatment. That's probably why this is such a hard book to read. The author does an amazing job of putting you in the head of the charachters so it's pretty much impossible not to feel what they do. But the love is epic. I mean, really...
After the first few chapters you start to see a woman come out of her she'll not to concentrate on the disease, but on helping her daughter live a really great life. How fortunate that this stranger is there to help her realize the gift of really living a life. A love so great begins to evolve that the little girl decides that she wants to live.
Ben was one of those people who "fixed" things for other people when they needed help. He was there for his friends and their wives in the beginning of the series (and for this reason alone it would be worth reading the first two books) and in his own story he wanted to ease the pain and worry in Charlie and Ollie's lives. The book beautifully portrays and concerns and worries of a parent with a terminally ill child, and Ben's actions go a long way to showing that when hope is lost, there is still something more one can do to bring about a resolution to the problems of life.
I laughed and I cried throughout the book, but mostly I was filled with a warm glow when I finished reading it. Thank you Emma Nichols for a beautifully written story.
