About the Author
Joy Walker is a writer, hospice worker and Bereavement counselor and works as a professional care-manager for her father. In 2011, she published a memoir, Three Years and Thirteen Dumpsters: Cleaning House After Dementia, both about being her Father's live-in caregiver, and about her experiences cleaning out the family home, filled with 40 years of living, memories, and hoarded material! She maintains a popular blog, recently voted one of Healthline.com's most popular blogs of 2012, about caregiving and end of life issues, Lewy Body Dementia, and living with chronic illness. http://cleaninghousebook.blogspot.com. She is passionate about the stress and struggle of being a caregiver and finding ways in which they can be better supported. She regularly mentors others, including volunteering as a Lewy Buddy Call Counselor for the Lewy Body Dementia Association. Walker lives with her husband in Seattle, Washington. She enjoys walking, visiting her Dad, going to movies and the theater, gardening, travelling, and spending as much time reading as possible. She is currently working on her second book, a collection of essays and advice for caregivers.
