About the Author

Bill Harris has been involved in personal development for over twenty-five years as a seeker, teacher, public speaker, author, musician, composer, therapist, workshop leader, and business owner. A student of ancient and modern research into the nature of the mind, he has studied and practiced a variety of traditional and modern transformational techniques and approaches with a variety of teachers.

A graduate of Portland State University, Bill also has done three years of graduate study in music, studying with world-renowned Czech composer Tomas Svoboda and also with Spanish composer Salvador Brotons. He is a Certified Trainer of Neuro Linguistic Programming and is also trained in Ericksonian Hypnosis. He is a long time student of contemporary psychology, quantum mechanical physics, the evolution of non-linear systems (chaos theory) and the effects of a wide range of neurotechnologies on human change, evolution and healing. He has participated in a wide range of ancient as well as contemporary methods of personal development and growth. He is known for his ability to explain difficult subjects in a way that makes them easy to understand.

Bill is frequently invited to present at scientific forums and conferences across the U.S., and over the years has taught a wide range of workshops and seminars.

He currently is president and Director of Centerpointe Research Institute. In the past he has conducted his own private therapy practice utilizing cognitive therapies and Neuro Linguistic Programming.

After five years of personal experimentation and study, Bill started Centerpointe Research Institute in 1989 with borrowed recording equipment set up on his kitchen table. Since then, Centerpointe has grown to include over a hundred thousand participants in 172 countries on six continents. In his role as Director of Centerpointe Research Institute, Bill is the creator of The End® Personal Growth Through Technology program. This on-going personal development program utilizes the Holosync® sound technology, embedded beneath soothing music and environmental sounds on cassette tape, to induce deep states of meditation and to cause the human nervous system to reorganize at higher levels of functioning.

This book was fascinating and ahead of its time and came as a freebee from the program. His work with the brain was ground breaking. I heard a lecture from a brain scientist how the brain is changed, especially in the young, by digital exposure over extended periods. I gave him my original copy and bought the book.

I confess: I like Holosync. I have used it for about 6 years. It helped me navigate a very difficult period in my life. It also works--I know, I know, it's not supposed to be used this way, but--to put you to sleep in minutes. This is the book that Centerpointe sent with my first order, back in 2007. I gave it to a friend and then finally decided to buy another copy for myself because I found it helpful. The diagrams and explanations of open and closed systems are helpful to give us some insight about our thinking and how to expand our tolerance for the chaos of life.

Finally, resistance does indeed equal suffering. It's easy to think, "Just stop resisting!" but putting it into practice takes sustained effort. It is not simply a matter of deciding to stop resisting. But this book does a good job helping with perspective.

It's worth reading, I think.

Having read the other reviews, I have to chuckle. I never experienced any pressure to buy from anyone or any material. Frankly, I wish I had the money to buy up to the next level. I used the intro programs, read the book (consistent with everything else I've read about cognitive studies in my 300-book self-study in sports and performance psychology and related mind-body-spirit studies), and most importantly, I have had an enjoyable time and marvelous results .. reduced tensions, less sleep, significant personal change especially in awareness, relationships, and more.... especially powerful in the beginning, as predicted. I have been listening to 'dive', 'immersion, 'floating' and the gamma compassion CD for years now.

I have no doubt -- no doubt -- that it helped me critically at a time when I had to be hospitalized for post-heart attack, post-cardiac arrest, post-stroke recovery (a complex dual-sided* mostly-motor stroke occurred peri-operatively during open-heart surgery in which I also lost 20+ units of blood); I walked out six weeks later with virtually no deficits, needing no assistive devices, and fully ambulatory, something every physician involved said should have never happened. (*Important given the role of HoloSync in corpus callosum trans-lateral-brain communication.)

Can I say or prove definitively that that was due to HoloSync? No, certainly not scientifically, but only through gnosis.

Is this better or worse than other products? Don't know, and it probably doesn't matter.

Was it all a placebo? Might have been, but then the placebo effect is also proven.

Most people do not understand the power of their own minds. It is time we all learned. The book and the programs are a relatively easy way to start.

I don't know how anyone can find fault with this book or the centerpointe program. It is simply the most incredible self help method I have ever found, and I had been searching a very long time. Bill Harris is an incredible person that gives so much of himself to help others. Also, the person that said you could get this help through similar programs in a much faster time, well they don't know what they are talking about. This has to be done slowly, if you try and go too fast it will cause you problems, take you a step backwards. If you follow it properly, you will continue to make incredible progress.
