"Through His Heart" by Deborah Camp
What I liked about this novel....
I loved this series of 'The Mind's Eye Series.' The two main characters...Levi and Trudy were some very interesting individuals with all of their passion and yet being their for each other as they worked on this new a psychic mystery as this case will hit home for Levi as his past will come back to haunt him in this well written storyline. This author really works her magic as Levi and Trudy do a amazing job as they solve this suspenseful emotional ride as Trudy gets a SOS from a missing child who just happens to be Levi's stepsister [whom Levi has never met]. I indeed enjoyed the smoothness that this author paced her story....along with the hot steamy sex scenes....as the reader will see how devoted this couple were to each other as they deepen their relationship.
I loved this excerpt of how Truly really felt about Levi.......to me this says it all!
"You make me feel pretty and sexy and you love me as I am. You give me the courage to explore my abilities. You know how scared you were of Becky? Well, most of my life, I've been that scared about being psychic. It's always made me feel out of control and just shy of being insane. Quintara helped me gain some control over it, but you've shown me how to live with it, how to be at peace with it. Believe me, what we have is a symbiotic relationship.Read more ›
There is a lot unveiled in Book 3. Ms Camp leaves room for this story to continue to grow in many directions. I remain intrigued as to which direction she decides to take and look forward to many future books in this series.
"Through His Heart" by Deborah Camp is part of the paranormal ‘Mind's Eye’ series that features Trudy Tucker and Leviticus (Levi) Wolfe, psychics. A visit to Trudy’s home and subsequent encounters with her parents causes Levi to take a hard look at their relationship. Complicating matters is Trudy’s channeling of a young girl who has been kidnapped which causes her to become more involved with Levi’s family, much to his consternation. Their relationship is about to be tested like it never has before, and only by finding a way to share their deepest fears will they be able to build a foundation for the future. The question is whether each of them is willing to pay the price.
This exciting and suspenseful story explores multiple aspects of psychic phenomena even as it depicts the horror of abuse, both mental and physical. It is wonderful to watch the maturation of a relationship between two remarkable individuals who have developed contrasting personalities in response to their pasts yet forge an intimate connection that allows each to become a better person. There are heartbreaking revelations which give even more insight into how Levi’s personality developed but most impressive is the way that he finds the courage to reach out to Trudy. The two of them still frustrate me as they go back and forth with their angst-filled reactions but I am starting to like the couple that they have become. I really appreciate getting a better idea of what has made Levi into the man he has become and I hope that certain members of his extended family show up in future stories because I think they can teach him a lot.Read more ›
The case takes them to Levi’s hometown and forces him to come to terms with his past. Camp did an excellent job of giving us the complete story of Levi’s troubled childhood. It was gritty and intense. One of the things I like about this series is that we continually see these characters develop, learn more about them and have front row seats to the growth in their relationship. Through His Heart is heavy on the heat, as these two cannot seem to keep their hands off each other. We also see them open up more and deepen their relationship.
The case was a fascinating one and it had me flipping the pages. The missing young girl brings us a long list of suspects, interference from family members and threats to Trudy. I enjoyed the way in which Camp weaved Levi’s past into the storyline. Circumstances and certain characters allowed us to understand the damage inflicted upon him. Trudy continues to develop her psychic abilities and I am anxious to see her master her skills and unlock her full potential.
Camp does a great job with pacing and creating suspense. At times I felt we saw too much sexy-time, but in end I was satisfied and in truth it strengthened them as a couple. The author hinted at NOLA as a possible case setting and it made me giddy at the prospect. Copy provide by author, full review at caffeinated book reviewer.
