Through the Past, Darkly (Big Hits Vol. 2) was originally released in September 1969, and is the second compilation album of hits by the Rolling Stones, following Big Hits (High Tide and Green Grass). Through the Past made a huge splash on both sides of the Atlantic, reaching #2 in both the U.S. and UK. The album includes numerous Stones classics including Jumpin Jack Flash, Let s Spend The Night Together and Honky Tonk Women. The packaging stays true to the original layout, with its trademark octagonal-shaped album cover.

Through the Past Darkly is even better than its predecessor, showing the Stones as accomplished in a range of musical styles as the Beatles. A look at the track listing tells you all you need to know, this is one hell of an album. However, one can quibble with the abkco 2002 reissues in that there was a lost opportunity for a superior edition – a booklet perhaps, and certainly some extra tracks. The Stones themselves are far more generous with their own label’s reissues – the recent Sticky Fingers for example. By comparison, abkco have been stingy. Haven’t they made enough out of the Stones yet? The music on this CD is magnificent, but one star off for abkco’s meanness.
Love every song on here and grew up listening to all these tracks with my parents...
...the only bad thing I can say about this is the sleeve. Really, they couldn't have spent a little more money making this a little more stout? My father's original copy is kind of along the lines of what I was hoping for in regards to this specific element. Granted I'm going to take care of the thing to preserve the condition but I hate this trend of skimping on stuff like this.
Other than that this is a must have.
Again, great addition to my Stones and other vinyl collection. Worth the money!
