After so much disappointment from the glitter cd and film, I wasn't sure if mariah would be able to make a come back. I was of course wrong. Mariah sounds absolutely spectacular on this cd single. This includes the hex hector radio edit version of "Through the Rain" as well as the album version. The Hex Hector remix has recently topped the Billboard Club/Dance Charts, so hopefully this can explain how good this song is. But above all, even the lovely ballad by Mariah, the live version of the remake "Bringing on the Heartbreak" is the best! This song leaves you speechless, literally! If she releases this as a single, it will no doubt give her another #1 hit. Here is a quick review:
1) Through the Rain (album version) = 8/10
2) Through the rain (hex hector/radio edit) = 9.5/10
3) Bringin on the Heartbreak (live) = 10/10 !
I defenately recomend this for the people who have not or may not like to buy her album charmbracelet, but like the song. It is defenately worth the (money)!

I really have to say, that this song "Through the Rain§ is one of Mariah Carey's best songs ever. She sings with so much feelings, she really lives the song. Her voice is very powerful and makes this Ballad absolutely sad. Mariah gives everything in the end. For everyone out there, please if you want to cry, if you are in trouble, just listen to this song and all your wishes become true. Thank you mariah 4 this great big big song!

I remember the first time I saw the video, I thought the concept and song was brilliant.
Come to find out it was loosely based on her parents' relationship and I thought it was so adorable. And just listening to the words without the video's story, I could not help but feel so inspired and feel like I CAN and I WILL always make it through the rain.
Fast forward to now. Still love this song! Still think it is super inspiring and I still listen to it when I need to build up some confidence in myself and when I need to force myself to move past hurdles.
Mariah has a true gift both as a singer and as a songwriter. It took me way too long to buy this single. Glad I finally did.

I would be a bigger fan of Mariah Carey except that I believe her overtly sexual demeanor detracts from her singing talent. In other words, she tries so hard to be sexy that it leaves me wondering why she feels she must sink to those levels. That said, I think her voice is incredible. After I saw her concert on tv I thought about picking it up. I'm glad I did. This is a CD you can just let play all the way through. It took me about 4 months before I wanted to take it out of my CD changer in the car.

Following her heavily publicized breakdown and the box office failure of Glitter, songbird Mariah Carey released her ninth (and unfairly overlooked) album Charmbracelet in December 2002, with the personal and inspirational ballad Through the Rain as the lead single.

Opening with the lovely sound of a music box, Mariah's restrained vocals encourage those who "get caught in the rain" (faced with tough times) to know that "I can make it through the rain/I can stand up once again/On my own and I know/That I'm strong enough to mend/And every time I feel afraid/I'll hold tighter to my faith/and I live one more day/And I make it through the rain." What makes Through the Rain really soar is after the bridge where Mariah holds a powerful, long belting note and really tears it down the way only she can. Need proof? Check out her performance of the song at the 2003 American Music Awards (complete with a live gospel choir) that brought the audience to their feet and gave the diva a standing ovation.

It's a shame the single didn't do well. It's easily one of Mariah's best inspirational ballads, vocally and lyrically, and it inspired one of her best music videos. A loosely based retelling of the personal turmoil Mariah's parents faced caused by their interracial marriage in the 60's (Jamie-Lynn Sigler from The Sopranos played her mom) intercut with shots of Mariah singing in a rainstorm on an NYC street and inside a church wearing a long black gown and her mother's charmbracelet.

Also included are the Hex Hector radio edit, which keeps Mariah's vocals from the original intact while switching to an electronic/dance backdrop (this mix is also on the 2003 Remixes compilation) and the "live" version of Bringin' on the Heartbreak is a well done remake of the Def Leppard classic.

This is an amazing single. Though released a bit late this CD managed to hit #1 on the Billboard sales chart! Containing an amazing live rendition of Bringin on the heartbreak, this CD declares loud and clear that MARIAH the queen of the charts IS BACK. This track is going to be released as a single pretty soon and is destined to be a hit! i f you have'nt bought this CD yet, you're missing on alot.

This cd single is terrific, featuring the should be classic (if radio ever gets the clue) "through the rain" written by Mariah Carey. It is a traditional ballad on getting on with and through things. There can never be enough songs like this in the world, let alone writers who can pen them. Mariah does not get the credit she should for her songwriting, perhaps because she is so diverse. She can write songs that appeal to the hip-hop crowd and then turnaround and write classics or should be classics lke "Hero", 'Anytime You Need A Friend", "Lead The Way","Butterfly", "After Tonight", and "I Only Wanted" (from the very recommended recent Charmbracelet). The "TTR" remix here is, in my opinion, worlds better than the one on the album - you can dance to it and it is ALL Mariah (no guest stars). Finally, the live "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" rounds things out nicely. If you own "Charmbracelet" I would still recommend getting this because the remix...... ROCKS!!!!.
