I ordered this flashlight from ThruNite through Amazon. There was initially a point of concern in the ordering process, because although it says USA orders ship from USA, mine did not. It shipped from overseas. I was very upset initially, because previous orders from overseas have taken up to month to arrive. My worries turned out to be unfounded however, as it was shipped airmail and arrived in just 6 days. Also, their customer service was quick to respond to my concern, and it delivered by the time estimated on the page. Just flagging that for future customers.

Once the light arrived, I took it out of the case. The case itself is a very nice vinyl covered box with metal corners and latch. Hefting the light revealed a solid construction, with a palm-filling barrel that fit my hand perfectly. I like the current design trend of making lights thicker instead of longer, so having the three batteries side-by-side in the battery carrier works well for me. Overall the light has a feeling of quality construction. The mirror and lens were flawless. I appreciate that Thrunite has realized that stainless steel bezels have uses other than striking crenelations. I am getting to hate toothed flashlight ends that snag on everything. This light has a smooth stainless bezel that prevents thread damage in the event of a drop without the worries of snagging or extra length. Done inspecting the appearance, I removed the tailcap, noted the nicely cut squarish threads, and popped three charged 18650 lithium ion cells into the battery carrier.

To turn the light on, you have to depress the tail switch. To change modes, you turn the magnetic ring.

The lowest setting is a VERY LOW output, at probably less than 1 lumen.

I have several decent flashlights like smaller Fenix but as far as light generation, this one beats them all. This is a beefy device though. Definitely not a 'pocket flashlight' but it makes up for the size in power. Note that the 1100 lumen advertised are REAL lumens. Seen guys on Youtube using proper measuring devices to confirm the advertised specs. Only had it for one day and tested it lighting up a forest several hundred meters away. Subjective impression: About as strong as most helicopter search lights, but not as wide. Not cheap but 100 percent worth the money. Get yourself the NCR 18650B 3400mh batteries for this baby.

After much research, and reading of others' reviews across a wide range of high-end flashlights, I ended up purchasing the TrueNite TN31 at $200. At the time I bought it, this was the newest model in TrueNite's TN line. Overall, I am satisfied with its output and performance. It is certainly of high quality materials, and has an incredible throw - all of which was expected of a flashlight of this caliber. My only complaints might be that its a bit heavier than I had anticipated, and larger. I was not expecting something lightweight or small, but its a bit awkward to wear on my belt with its holster, as it almost looks like I have a large handgun at my side! You definitely feel its presence while wearing it, but I suppose those are things I simply hadn't realize before purchasing the TN31.
As with most things, you can have either large and powerful, or small and less powerful. Regardless, I would surely recommend the TN31 to others, however, I would caution doing extensive research before considering a flashlight in this price range, as there are a lot of high-end lights available, and depending on the price, its entirely possible there are other, better ones out there. Still, I am satisfied with my purchase - I only wish it was easier to carry around on me, as I consider it more of a home-bound flashlight - a bit too heavy and large to latch onto a belt at all times.

This was a great flashlight at the regular price! Now that the price has greatly dropped it is an amazing value. The ability to quickly and easily control the brightness with the variable ring, makes this a very easy to use flashlight. simply press the tail cap button to turn it on or off and rotate the ring to choose the brightness level. no need to press the button in complex combinations in order to change the brightness. It has a very very long throw. It is rated for nearly half a mile. Not sure how bright it is at that distance, but at 1/4 of a mile it is still very bright!

As far as I'm concerned about the only purpose this Beast isn't good for is a EDC light. .It's not a compact pocket sized EDC light, but it is what you want if you need to see a man or Animal over very long distance or very close with the twist of the wrist only required to go from candle light to a 1376 lumen tightly focused intense beam out to a rated distance of 840 Meters and it has to have the most blinding Strobe function, I have ever seen. Buy it now, before the Government decides to ban, it for some lame reason as they are so good at, you will love it! !!!!!

Probably the best deal you can get for under 100 bucks for something this powerful and well crafted. The only other flashlight I have that is more powerful than this one (love that one too) is my FENIX TK61. The lumens on the FENIX are 1000 but the candle power is 170000. The THRUNITE is 90000. But still it's really really bright and shoots really really far. I like the selector ring for changing modes but my only gripe is that you can not instantly access turbo mode like I can with my FENIX and most other flashlights that I own. Other than that, it's a beautifully powerful beefy flashlight that I really enjoy using.
