Bought this roof box almost last minute for a trip to the Carolinas which is over 700 miles each way. I tried another box I borrowed from a friend for my 2008 Honda Pilot but it was about 9 inches too long and wouldn't allow the tailgate to open. The Pulse L fit perfectly. At first, the clamps didn't seem to grab onto the factory roof bars well but was I ever wrong. It never moved through almost 2000 miles of driving on highways and backroads. I didn't even have to tighten the clamps before our return trip as they never loosened. We were able to fill the box with 6 small-medium sized duffels, two beach chairs and a beach umbrella and had room to spare. Couldn't be happier with this purchase and if there was ever a reason to buy Amazon Prime, this was it. I didn't pay a dollar for shipping while other retailers wanted over $100 and it would have taken over a week. I had this in two and a half days from the date of my order. Great item, oh and it has a lifetime warranty too.

I got this at a local rack store a couple years ago because I needed extra cargo space in a hurry before a long road trip. I didn't have a chance to make an informed purchasing decision, and at the time, price was a main consideration. It has some strong points, but I've mostly been dissatisfied with it.

What I have is the Large (14 cubic feet) version, which is 16" tall, 34" wide and about 5 feet long.

First, some of the pros:

- it's very light. I can carry it over my head all by myself without any issues. It's relatively easy to place on the roof of my 2001 Audi A4 wagon without any help.

- the attachment system works well and is very easy to secure. Just place the claws on either side of the cross bar, tighten the knob, and voila, the box is secure. Repeat for each corner.

- it's got good height. I can fit relatively tall objects in there and the lid will close.

- it opens on both sides and has locks on both sides (edit: The version I purchased is a one-off edition available only at Thule brick-and-mortar retailers, the official version sold here only opens on one side).

- it's much more affordable than most roof cargo boxes, especially compared to other Thule models or Yakima stuff.

Seems pretty good so far, right? Now for the cons:

- this thing flexes like wet cardboard. The plastic it's made of is incredibly thin. Until it's tightened down, it bends and flexes in every direction. Even after it's tightened down, the lid is super bendy. Opening and closing it can be frustrating, because the bendiness means it probably won't go the way you want it to. I often have to try closing it multiple times to get the lid lined up with the base.

- it's NOISY!!!

This was exactly what I expected it to be. Two complaints that people had made in reviews I was able to fix fairly easily. One complaint was that the cargo box was not weather tight and water leaked in around the top lip when driving in the rain. I got self-adheasive weatherstripping at Lowes (about 3/8" by 3/8") and installed it inside the top lip so that it mashed against the rolled edge of the bottom when closed and locked down. Not leaks so far. The other complaint was that at highway speeds the wind coming up off the windshield gets under the top of the cargo box and forces it up allowing water to get into the box. I riveted a big strap buckle to the front middle of the top and bottom of the box. Now when I close the top, I can buckle the top to the bottom and cinch it tight with the strap and the wind does not lift the top up any.

I recently purchased this cargo rack for a 2000 mile round trip this Spring that started in below freezing temperatures with snow and ended with driving through thunderstorms; it performed very well in all conditions. I drive a 2011 Chevy Equinox LT with OEM cross bars.

Pros:
* Wind noise was very minimal

* Very ample space. I was able to put in four boxes, a pack-in-play, one double umbrella stroller, and many smaller odds & ends to fill up the smaller spaces

* Delivery was easy and very professional, and was even given the option to have them leave it at the front door with my consent

* Did not leak even when driving 70 mph through a storm

* Super easy installation if you have two people working together

Cons:
* While the screw down attachments are very easy to lock down to your crossbar, know that you are sacrificing space in the cargo topper for convenience. The screw down part sticks up almost 5 inches and between it and the opposite side attachment, you get about maybe 20 inches in-between which restricts what you can lay down on the bottom layer of packing. Not a huge deal but it is my biggest beef with the product.

* If you deliberately or accidentally pull one of the screw down attachments through the cargo topper, the rubber gasket that it slips through comes out with it and can be very time consuming to put back in. I would have liked to see them glued or plastic welded to the cargo box.

* On our 2011 Equinox, the back end of our cargo box (Large size) bent our antenna down. Not a big deal here as there was no damage and the radio and XM still got perfect reception.

* Shutting the lid can be a challenge sometimes if you have loose straps or fabric inside the cargo box.
