THIS tumbler is AMAZING in that it is VERY versatile.
You can fill it with DRY RICE and clean brass shells for several hours and they will come out NICe. BUT the old way was to put in 2 lbs of SS pins, about a 3/4 gal of water and 1/4tsp lemishine + 1 tbs of dawn dish soap and then tumble shells for about 2 hours and you would have some nice clean shells coming out.
NOW we have evolved. I have evolved my methods and now I have a NEW FASTER BETTER method for cleaning shells.
Simple. Get about a tablespoon of food grade CITRIC acid (granular form, looks like sugar) and about 44 oz of water and dump in some once fired brass shells (decap them if you want them to dry faster) and let them spin for a little more then about 30 minutes.
You will be MARVELED! Look at my photos I have shared. I did about 7 lbs of .40 shells in about 50 minutes, but for the first 15 minutes I had 3.5 lbs of brass just sitting there so that I could stare at them and watch them get cleaned. When I got bored of that I put in another 3.5lbs of brass and some more water and another .7 CC of citric acid (weak!) and then let them spin. So I basically cleaned about 500+ shells in under an hour. Rinse TWICE then dump out to dry. The best thing is that Citric Acid supposedly makes your brass stronger by pasification. It seems to resist tarnishing so they should stay shiny for a while now.
BTW, I say .7 CC of citric acid because I am using a dipper that I had, you can say that a .7 CC is about a teaspoon. Go clean your brass, folks!
