Editorial Reviews

Thunder-Sky is a documentary feature about the life and legacy of Cincinnati artist and pop culture icon Raymond Thunder-Sky. Known as "The Construction Clown" locally, Raymond walked the city streets wearing a hard hat and clown collar, and for much of his life no one understood what he was up to. His art colorfully documented the destruction of the urban landscape, and then re-envisioned the cranes and cobble of construction sites as multicolored clown suit factories and circus highways. Raymond developed an ever growing cult following over the past thirty years, but since his death in 2004, interest in his art and adventures has increased exponentially due to the creation of an art gallery and archival center constructed in his name. Raymond, who was Native American and labeled with autism, now has a considerable reputation as an outsider artist. This is the story of Raymond, his gallery, and a community inspired by their example.
