    I received my undergraduate degree from Wheaton College where I studied Christian Education and Mathematics. Growing up in Michigan, my parents were both Math teachers. I love working with students (it keeps me young at heart). So, it was not too surprising when I decided to follow their footsteps and teach. In 2005, I got my Masters of Arts in Teaching from the University of Memphis.

    It turns out, I love teaching! I call my job at St. Mary’s Teaching Nirvana. Small class sizes. Students who work hard to learn the material covered in class. Colleagues who strive for excellence. And, it doesn’t hurt that cupcakes and cookies have a way of magically appearing all around school!

    I am also an instructor for Texas Instruments and train teachers how to use the latest calculators. My mom, who helped me type many English papers in high school is amused that I have written two books, "TI-Nspire for Dummies" and "TI-84 for Dummies."

    In 2011, I got to meet President Obama and the Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan when I was given the Presidential Award of Excellence for Science & Mathematics Teaching. I got to spend an unforgettable week in Washington D.C. with my wife, Shannon.

    When I’m not meeting important dignitaries, I enjoy attending ballgames of one of my three boys, playing golf / raquetball, getting free stuff, reading Malcolm Gladwell books and making my wife smile.

I have just reentered college at the ripe old age of 44 to further my career. I am an LPN working towards my RN. I hated math in school. HATED it. I have noticed that it is well written and seems to be fairly easy to understand. I am sure once classes start..I will be able to put my new over-priced calculator to good use!

This book is a big help to me because it explained everything I should have been taught in a previous math class that required us to have a TI-84, but did not teach us the best ways to use it. I used my TI-34 more then my TI-84. The next math class should be better with the help of this book, especially when it comes to graphing equations. For an elderly non-techi type of person, books like these are great. I also have to note that the book came in during its ETA window in good shape, so that is another plus for this purchase.

Bought this because I have been tutoring my grandson in Math, and he has just started using a graphing calculator. The instructions included with the calculator are sketchy at best, so I have been trying other references. This one is by far the best. It is organized well and has a detailed index where you can quickly find subjects. I would recommend this for any student (or their parent or tutor) new to graphing calculators.
