Let me start by saying this is my first bowl purchase and I haven't been able to get smaller bowls to sing very well when I tried in various shops so I wasn't sure when I tried this one, so.....This bowl is awesome!!

This bowl is the perfect size - small enough to easily find a place to display and big enough to emit a full resonating sound.
The donut shape of the cushion makes it very steady while rubbing around it which makes it super easy to focus on just creating and tuning into the sound.
The bowl has good weight behind it. It seems to be made very well and durable.
Let me also not forget to mention this is one of the prettiest designs I've seen

At first I thought I was going to send it back, because it didn't seem to work, but fortunately I decided to check YouTube to see how one "plays" a Tibetan Singing Bowl, which is tantamount to a musical instrument. If you do not know how to hold and use a musical instrument, Fuggedaboutit! So, here is the "secret" (not) to "playing" a Tibetan singing bowl: begin by keeping it on the pillow if you tend to curl your fingers around a bow, which mutes vibration. Needs to sit on open palm or fingertips. There is a double line just below the top rim of the bowl for good reason! You need to stay well above that line in order for your bowl to "sing". I was watching this instructional YouTube video and following what the woman suggested and my bowl drowned out the YouTube video. At first I thought it was the video that sounded so good, but when I looked at my screen, the instructor was not playing; it was ME! I am a rank beginner, so I jump-start it with a little "bing", and the faster I move the rubber around the outer top rim on the bowl, the louder it sings, and there is an oscillating harmonic affect that's mesmerizing. I am a rank beginner - been playing for less than an hour, and will use it for meditation (new to that too) as I need some serious relaxation amid Covid19. I can't wait to just sit and focus on the sound. I am not sure I will do it outside as the bowl is LOUD (and I wear hearing aids, so it is definitely loud because I heard it loud and clear without my hearing aids in!!!) Must get more from this same company if they have them. : - )

beautiful bowl, very pretty and well made, sound is very good, much better than I expected. The only downside to this purchase is that when it arrived, I took it out of the package and the box it was in, and the little pillow it sits on, smelled so strongly of mildew it was uncomfortable and made me sneeze. The box still smells faintly after a week of having it. I love the moon phases on it.

The bowl itself has a great value to the cost at the time of my purchase. The metal seems solid and properly balanced. It rings at slightly under the C5 frequency (and as the resonance gets higher, its frequency nears the proper tone).

I am not very skilled at making them sing so far, but the fact that I already had a longer and heavier mallet helped me to be able to create the harmonic vibration without first tapping the bowl.

I also find it easier to place the bowl on a flat (sometimes cloth-covered) surface due to the small size of the pillow. The current proportional relationship (with the firmness of the batting inside the pillow) makes the bowl slide off easily even when just sitting.

Overall, it is a great value. Once I confirmed the stability needs, I was able to make the bowl sing with the mallet provided.
