Tick Tock Girl By Jack Wallen Book 2 in the Klockwerk Kaberet Series.
Tick Tock Girl is a book of Dark Whimsy, Fractured Timelines and Time Travel.
“The Klockwerk Angels” (Olivia Nightingale, Nathan Gage, Lemule and Jarbo) Just want to put things right. They want to restore the timeline save their beloved town of Mainspring from self-appointed ruler Edauche Hironymouse and the the oppressive rule of Tick Tock Girl who is bent on revenge. As well as save the towns people from a most unpleasant death either from cruel experiments at the Unwound Asylum or from the mines,or being sent to either the Recommission or Decommission plants. Back to a time where the Klockwerk Kabaret is still standing, and not so dilapidated beyond repair. With Gils behind the bar serving ale and where the wonder of the Klockwerk Dolls move in time with Olivia, while her beauty and voice captivates all within the vicinity of the Kabaret. Where the smell of vanilla and leather and ale hangs in the air. One where the Officer is in charge of the “Keep of keys”, a man Nathan trust with his life. Along the way Nathan and Olivia find out the truth about themselves and Nathan’s father. They are in for the fight of their lives.
Jack Wallen has such a brilliant mind. He was able to create a very complex world for the reader to get lost in for a while. The most amazing and fanciful machinery and contraptions. He leaves you wanting more. He is a true Artist.
I won't spoil your reading experience by telling detailes from this steam powered adventure. i can only say, that this is not your average steampunk novel, it is just so much better than that. The way Jack Wallen talks, true each of his very good shaped caracthers is unique, it's like proze in poetry. The dialogues btw Nathan and his wife Olivia are somethimes funny and somethimes serious still wrapped in magic of real feeling. It just makes you wish ,believe that there is someone out there talking that way. Even if the Story somehow floats around the unique love relationship btw Nathan and Olivia, everything else is very good narated, you actually get the feeling that you walk around on the streets of Mainspring.
Jack Wallen build a whole new world, steam powered, best steampunk novel that i read !
This is incredibly well written with poetic prose and multifacted characters, a dark and twisty plotline and makes a fine sequel to Klockwerk Kabaret.
