About the Author

I was born in 1973 in Breslau, Poland, and grew up in Germany. I studied law at Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf, and after my legal clerkship, I received my doctorate in media and competition law from the University of Münster. I subsequently became interested in business, studied at Stanford Graduate School of Business in California, and co-founded the global online donation platform ammado. I’m a very passionate person and interested in all sorts of things, such a reading, hiking, skiing, socializing, yoga, and technology. Having spent many years in Dublin, Ireland, I now live in Zürich, Switzerland, where I dearly enjoy the beauty of the country’s lakes and mountains.

I will first of all say that I edited the English version of this book (I like to come clean, and no, I'm not getting royalties or any compensation--direct or indirect--for this review), so while I may be biased, I also know the book intimately. I can honestly say that it's a lovely story, told with heart, simplicity, and sensitivity, and its very worthwhile message is simply this: that we come from love and return to love, and that all life is the working out of that love in our experience. There are other messages embedded throughout, many of them so beautifully written that they're worthy of a poster or calendar--or at least someone's journal. So if you sometimes find that you're having difficulty navigating the ups and downs of life, this simple, beautiful book may help you take a step back, re-view, reset, and remember who you truly are and the fact that you can express that here and now.

One final word: although the book has elements of a children's book, it was written more with adults in mind and will probably resonate with anyone from their teens upwards with the right mentality. Another review mentioned The Little Prince and Jonathan Livingston Seagull, and that's probably a good guideline in terms of the overall style of the book, although it's more about a "normal" life as experienced by a little spirit.

Happy reading!

I really wanted to like this book. I was excited to get it. I am not sure who the target audience is supposed to be, but it seemed a little dark to me. I was going to read it to my kids, but there are parts of this book I had to skip because it was not child friendly. My husband even commented on how negative the book seemed. I expected some of that because I guess the author was trying to portray the negativeness of feeling separated from spirit, but I was a little surprised it started as early as the womb. Possible spoiler: I was hoping the book would end with the spirit being able to eventually find heaven on earth before dying instead of dying and regretting how beautiful it could have been. Again, I guess that just comes back to the target audience. There seems to be a number of good reviews on here, so I guess the message rang true for some people, but for me it was hard to read just focusing on the negative for the whole life experience. The message of how we become disconnected is good, but that is about all I liked about the book. This same message could be portrayed in a more positive and illuminating way. Life can seem hard at times and we are all on our own journey, but there are ways to reconnect. Living a negative life and having regrets when we return to the spirit world is one way to portray it, it just wasn't for me or the message I was hoping from this book. There were people who liked it; that is great. I give the author kudos for trying to write about this subject. I just had to offer my opinion as well for others who are thinking about buying this book since I wish there was a little more information about the content of this book in the reviews before I had purchased it.

A wonderful and liberating read. Anna is a true inspiration, and a gifted talent. She shows us all what freedom of spirit awaits us if only we can keep our daily lives rooted in the truth of her message. I look forward to what other doors she will unlock through her clarity and her disarming and honest way in future books!

This is an amazing little book about our journey through life. A wonderful piece of literature that reminds us that there's more to life than work and the accumulation of riches... Anna Kupka's work can easily be placed on the same level as philosophical treasures like "The Little Prince" or "Monsieur Linh and His Child". Definitely a must-read!

Very different theme and plot...but pleasant and interesting. A story that made me think of life and love like I never have before. A fun perspective of soul that widened my vision of what is the makeup of man before, during, and after his life as a human being. It was not exactly a Christian foundation but did not offend my Christian belief either. An easy read that is worth the time to enjoy and ponder. Would recommend.

This novella offers a wonderfully simplistic perspective on the meaning of life that will appeal to anyone who is open to the religious or spiritual. A little spirit, dispatched to earth to experience life through the eyes of an everyman named Paul, soon falls prey to the distractions, disappointments and stresses of human existence that cause all of us to lose our innocent spirtuality and perspective. Only after making a series of mistakes, and experiencing painful setbacks, does Paul manage to reconnect with his spiritual messenger and find meaning and happiness in his life. This little book can be read easily in one sitting, and the reward for such a small time commitment is immeasurable.

This title is proof positive that a book doesn’t need to have hundreds of pages in order to share wisdom of a profound nature. As a regular reader and reviewer of books that are spiritually oriented, I’ve come across similar subject matter in the past; however, “A Ticket to Earth And Back” features a very creative approach to covering weighty spiritual concepts. I really liked this work, and as such, highly recommend it for anyone interested in spirituality. As an aside, I also suggest the author consider creating a version of this book that could be shared with young children.
