I first came across the Acme Thunderer in England (I think they're based in Greenwich) a few years ago. It is the most powerful whistle available... something to do with the size of the pea and the size of the chamber. It's fun to know you can get the best of something for such a modest price.

This whistle is a very loud whistle. My daughter is drum major this year, and I heard her whistle from the stands when she blew it(the whistle) from the other side of the field. And I mean I heard it LOUD AND CLEAR.

I am a coach and used this same whistle for over 20 years. I have also trained hunting dogs with this whistle.

It is by FAR the finest whistle made and worth ever penny.

My only suggestion is that you buy 2 or 3 since the only risk is if they stop making these or switch the manufacturing to China or something drastic!

I love this whistle. I bought it to use on the scam callers...I get calls from people claiming they represent Dell (wanting access to my computer), others claiming they represent the IRS, and still other claiming they are the FBI and I am about to be arrested. I always let unrecognized calls go to voicemail. All three of these scam scenarios left urgent messages that I needed to call them back immediately or face a crashed computer, an audit, or immediate arrest. So, I used an old trick...I bought a whistle and I definitely called them all back...multiple times a day (as they were all calling me multiple times a day) and blew the whistle in their ears. After a few days of doing this, I miraculously stopped getting calls. So, this whistle did the job I needed it to do. It's very loud.

The whistle I have purchased is for a Mom with two small children..when they need a time out...she blows the whistle and they know she wants them to behave..and they DO!

I have a whistle is on my key chain...when I was mugged, many years ago, it saved my life. I had been recently divorced and attended a single's group counseling session. A guest speaker who was a Police officer at the meeting recommended all the women buy a whistle for their key chains. I did and I was one of the 9 out of 10 who escaped bodily harm and loss of purse. I blew this durable whistle so loud that the mugger RAN..soooo kudos to the manufacturer, keep up with the quality of this product.
