I honestly didn't expect much other then dollar store junk. While it is plastic it's not like the stuff the cheap squirt guns use. It actually works easily, well and fast and I just used the diagrams on the back & it worked perfect the first time (the video is only the 2nd time). Even the 6yr old twin girls & almost 8yr old son could do it themselves unassisted on the 1st try after watching me make the video! No matter what the product there will be defective ones... it's worth trying a replacement if you get one that is broken. Also it fits on our hoses fine & is upside down directly on our spicket BUT it still works fine we just do the same thing but a tad differently... it still wraps around the tie rod & then instead of hooking the tie down we pull it up from underneath. I foresee one for our 2nd hose and water ballon wars this summer.
Before this we considered two other no-tie solutions... The Zorbz...which use a floating capsule that seals the opening once filled. The problem with them is that the balloons must be used almost as soon as they are filled since the capsule dissolves in few minutes (especially with our hot Florida water) and you'd just have balloons dying like crazy before you could amass a dozen or two, and forget planning the day ahead. The other option which is really cool are the Bunch of Balloons, which are pre-assembled on an octopus looking hose attachment and self seal with rubber bands. This seems to be the quickest, but the price per balloon is daunting $20+ for about one hundred balloons. For that price you can get well nearly 10x the balloons with this solution and it's completely reusable...
Get it, if you want to have a water balloon fight and not spend the whole time filling balloons.
They say to put it on the end of a hose, but if you are working by yourself, that makes it really tough to hold the hose up and manipulate a balloon. It is much better if you have a stationary hose bib to attach this to, on the side of a house or similar. Use of a pressure regulator is a great idea - they sell them for drip irrigation pretty cheap, like this one:
- and would probably extend the life of this device.
