We got to know a little about Tyler in Toren's book, while Tied can be a read as a standalone. I do recommend reading book one Torn since it is an intercconected character and also an amazing read. I was curious about him after the brief appearance and mention so I was excited to learn more. We learned in that book he is reclusive and has issues but a good guy. I had no idea his story along with Holly's would be as emotional as it was. In keeping this spoiler free I will say what happened to Holly is harrowing and one that will change you. Her transition and adapting back to life is raw and not unusual at all. Hard not ache for her and feel the same confusion.
What happened to Tyler is also just unfortunate and how his ex treated that was mean. I mean I can get why some people are afraid of him for being quite and his appearance plus the rep he has but truly I felt awful for him. He has this chivalry and clearly animals like him so he can't be that bad. I can see in a way he and Holly have that kinship vibe with the scars and broken. Tyler has this vulnerable side that he is scared of rejection cause of his looks and Holly is his first real friend and it was amazing what that can do for someone. Holly has always looked to Ty as a her prince regardless of everything and it all blossomed from that one moment.
They saw each other in a unique way that is rare and wonderful. They share something and are truly tied to one another. Their story is all about how scars shouldn't define you. Holly is a survivor and I admire her strength to be better even if she is fragile at times and unsure. Tyler's lonely and turbulent heart needed someone like Holly to calm him and give him peace. They both deserved to be happy and find peace which they did together. It a came full circle in an odd way.
A beautiful and emotional read about two broken people who learned to cope and find their own place. It had moments of intensity which balanced the pacing of the story. I wasn't sure what I was expecting with this and while it was not on the sane as the first I can see the trademark hero of Carian Cole's and of course her strong writing and poetic style. She brought out these characters and made them complex. Only thing I would want is an epilogue to round it out or give more closure (edit to note: waiting for the bonus scene available in the link available at the end. ) But I'm happy they got to live out their own fairy tale. I look forward to the other characters stories and seeing them again in them.
Holly Daniels was kidnapped as a young child. Held for ten years in deplorable conditions. She was starved and abused. Her unlikely hero was the small-town psycho.
A recluse who stumbled upon a covered hole where Holly and her beloved dog were put. When Tyler Grace pulled her and dog up out of the hell hole, he was almost immediately attacked by the “bad man” who had held her prisoner. After wrestling over a ten inch knife, Holly & Tyler over came and put an end to this horrible man.
Poor abused Holly was returned to her family only to feel as abandoned and alone as before. There was only one hero, one prince, and one savior to Holly and that was Tyler. Only he was as scarred, broken, and as damaged as she. Fate threw them together time and again.
The secret to fairy tales is believing in them. That's what makes them come true. To ignite a feeling in a soul just as lonely and broken as your own. Two people met that are both ruined, broken & wrecked. Wandering around lost without a compass. To them they are both a “good weird”. They both need a happy place and seem to find it with each other. Maybe they could get through everything together.
Perhaps they can be unconditionally loved, wanted and accepted. They could be weirdly good together. Fairy tales do come true. You just have to believe!!
