She is jobless and living in a heavily indebted poor country and her hopes of traveling to America just failed her. She lost Messiah, falls in love with a gigolo who later dumps her for another. Yet, in-spite of all her brokenness, she sill hopes for a better day. Will she succeed in her quest for a better future?

Desire graduates from the University vibrant, full of great ambitions. She and Messiah (her university sweetheart), had planned to travelling to America (the land of Opportunity) where they would obviously make it big and live the American dream. Desire soon finds out that her parents’ promises of sending her abroad were vain, and Messiah fails to get the US visa. America is under attack. Desire decides to work, save and travel. Her first job leads her to another love adventure. She dumps Messiah for a wealthy gigolo, discovers she is HIV positive and becomes a Christian. Disappointed, destitute and frustrated, she tries to pick up the fragments of her shattered life, she must work extra hard because she realises that time has gone by, so too had part of her beauty. Desire feels vulnerability in the society where nothing goes for nothing. The novel exposes the strengths and weaknesses in life when people are confronted with basis issues like love, desire, lust, marriage, aids, Christianity, and other vices. It’s a bitter sweet love story. A journey to our Desires.
