My rice cooker is almost always left on. I usually cook rice immediately after I finish what's in the cooker. Usually, I just take the pot out, place clean uncooked rice and water in, then press START. It was fine, then I began to notice that sometimes the START button wasn't pressed so the rice would get cooked in low heat, ruining it. At first I thought they were my mistakes, but after it began happening once every other week I knew I couldn't have been that careless. I kept a close eye on the cooker then and I noticed that sometimes when I put the rice in, closed it, and pressed START, it was ignored and reverted to KEEP WARM! When it ignores, I would have to press CANCEL, then in the menu, select PLAIN RICE or COOK, then press START-- otherwise it would just keep it warm on low! This happens randomly once every other week or so, so I have been keeping an eye on the controls and more careful when I cook new rice.
