From the novel, I learned that our behaviors come from something or somewhere deep in our heart and our mind. Life is not always about being perfect, but to fully accept who we truly are.
I like the structure of the book, how it alternate between Collier's therapy and Caroline's past, very different from some books that focus on one character from the beginning to the end, which always make me feel bored and want to stop reading. Moreover, the beginning and the ending of this book is also interesting; it starts from Collier visiting Caroline for his first therapy and ended with Caroline starting her own therapy; it is both a beginning and an end.
I will recommend this book to the people who feel bewildered about their life. I like the way how Amy built the characters. Also, I enjoy reading the process of how Collier and Caroline identify themselves because I always can learn something from them. The structure of this book is kind of different when it compared to other novels. The personality of each character was shown in a series of flashbacks. After reading this book, I get to know it is significant for us to confront ourselves when we are facing the dilemma. Although sometimes you find that it is embarrassing to ask for help, escaping is not a good way for us to deal with the difficulties.

When you read the book, read carefully and try to find connections between characters and situations, because there are plenty. The story makes you think deeper and if you like challenging yourself, you'll love the book. We can see, reading the novel, how deep are the conversations between Caroline and Collier. Each question and answer leads to something and make the patient react or reveal more about himself. The author was a therapist for over 25 years and it makes so much more sense about the book depth. Collier has a big problem, which was the center of his entire life..
I highly recommend the book, it is full of surprises.
This book was an amazing read, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good book. Amy did a great job with character development, and the way they are similar in so many ways but the similarities are subtle. The journey of Collier's therapy was so interesting and really caught my attention, and the way that Caroline's back story began to tie in and relate to Collier really kept me reading. I read this book for a reading class I'm in, but I will definitely read it again. It is fantastic book with amazing writing. My favorite thing about this book is that EVERY character you are introduced to has a specific purpose in this book. 10/10 from me!
