"Unsparing in its emotional honesty, 'Tilting' is one woman's powerful story of how she overcame a rocky start to make her way in the world. 'We have the power to change the situation, no matter the cost or difficulty,' she writes. 'Choices.'"
Karen Lyon, HillRag.com
"Harkin lovingly creates portraits of various figures in her life, from their family friend with a 'Kentucky twang' to Linda, who becomes the heart of the story. The narrator does a fine job of mining her childhood for sweet stories that contrast with the sour turn that her parents' marriage takes."

That is why it is such at good read...Open and well written, it says some difficult things, but all done with honesty, understanding, forgiveness and an underlying sense of humor. I can't wait to read her next one, and I won't even be in that one.
Linda would be so proud of all her children in how they've worked through so many of the issues and have come together to support each other. She was a mother first and foremost!
