The embedded grid is crooked.

Was given to me as a gift. Yes its great to paint on and very easy to clean, but if you use the grid on the mat and a straight edge, the grid is crooked. U cannot line anything up. I called Ranger and they immediately sent me to Tonic Studios bc they do not manufacture the mat. I called Tonic and the rep knew this was an issue and sent me a link on how to fix it. Tonic as well as Tim Holtz and Ranger all know this could be an issue. The fix is...you have to have the "Tim Holtz straight edge that they sell for the mat. So you have to spend and additional $17-22 . Disappointed! Also my mat was slightly bowed and I had to add something on feet on back to level it out.

What more can I say other than PERFECTION! Honestly I don’t think Tim Holtz can do wrong in my eyes especially when it comes to creating crafting goodies. This glass mat was worth the wait and helps me keep my workspace during crafting clean and organized and I hardly have to bust out my ruler or craft mat anymore. I can do mixed media without having to worry about ruining or messing up my table surface and I just love this glass mat to pieces. If you’re thinking you don’t need this then you’re just confused and wrong because YES YOU NEED THIS!

I waited for a long time to purchase this as I had been using a craft mat and thought that was just fine. Oh my.....no! You’ve gotta break down and get this!!!! Everything cleans off the glass with the swipe of a baby wipe! If you get copic markers on it just use alcohol to remove. The white craft mat on the right is perfectly sized for mixing water colors or distress ink smooshing! I love that it’s marked with ruler lines in inches & centimeters. It doesn’t slide around on my desk as it comes with little “feet” that stick but you can remove it easily. Just the PERFECT CRAFT MAT!!!!!!

I know this was expensive on Amazon but I just couldn't wait till everyone else had it. And I am not disappointed. It is so beautiful. Never mind crafting on it - I just want to look at it! : ) Seriously though, I have the same problem that Tim Holtz does - project-creep. No matter what area I start with, even if it is 6-9 feet, I end up with just a few inches and constantly get my finished items into a glob of paint or glue or just lose stuff altogether. Hopefully, this surface will remedy that. Having a truly dedicated area for paints, stains, glues, etc, totally separate from the work area is a great idea and having the entire media mat raised slightly is yet another genius move on Tim's part. It may be psychological but that tiny barrier just does the trick. I always find Tim's product line to be extremely thoughtful and I believe that is because he actually uses these items and understands what we need for our workspace. I am getting the stamping platform today and can't wait till the media tool set is shipped.

I bought 3 of these - 1 more my hubby who does has all kinds of hobbies - uses for building models, painting items for his model trains and 2 for my craft room. It is such a great work surface... While I do love it, I did expect it to be more durable for cutting. I've only used it as a cutting surface on the grid side 1 time and I only used a light pressure to cut a strip of paper and sadly I have a scratched surface where I made that cut. The other features kind of outweigh that though as I really don't do a lot of direct surface cutting with my crafts. It's a little pricey but again kind of worth it compared to other working surfaces out there.

Kam gut verpackt an. Das Glas ist schwer, und wirkt unzerbrechlich. Zwar schneide ich der Klingen zuliebe nicht gerne auf Glas, ich habe es trotzdem getestet und beim ausprobieren waren auf der Platte keine Kratzer zu sehen. Die Reinigung ist problemlos mit einem trockenen oder feuchten Tuch möglich. Ich verwende dafür ein Microfasertuch. Für generelle arbeiten wie stempeln, ist mir die Platte fast etwas zu glatt. Das Papier rutscht dann doch ganz schön rum. Mit etwas Übung funktioniert aber auch das. Einfärben von Hintergründen mit Schwamm oder Walze funktioniert hervorragend und die Reinigung hinterher ist angenehm einfach. Praktisch ist auch, dass bei Einsatz von Klebstreifen diese gut halten und leicht wieder Rückstandsfrei entfernt werden können. Alle von mir verwendeten Kleber ließen sich wieder gut entfernen. Die Arbeitsplatte ist für Bastelarbeiten durchaus praktisch, Pflegeleicht und für die Qualität auch preislich absolut in Ordnung.

It took me a long time to decide if I needed this or not, and I watched several videos about how to use it and product reviews. I already have self-healing cutting mats of different sizes, heat protection surfaces/teflon crafting mats, ink blending mats, and other 'surfaces', but none seem to do 'everything' and it can get confusing swapping surfaces depending on the project one is doing, especially if it needed multiple surfaces for mixed media.

The Glass Media mat is exactly what I needed - and even has a swatching and blending area, where the paints/pigments/inks seem to 'light' up.... the add-on included silicon mat is also brilliant (don't use alcohol inks on that one though as it will stain, but you can use the inks anywhere else on the mat)....

Ink blending is fantastic .... and its very easy to clean

the measuring marks make it so easy to line things up (including centering points, and its a great size - this larger version is not very portable of course, but excellent as a 'work station', and it takes glues, other mediums, paints, inks, is heat resistant, you can cut on it ..... and more

Finally I have a work station, and its true, products do 'creep in' making one's work space smaller, but this does seem to help, especially with the slightly raised surface, keeping a good size area to work on.

(there is a left-handed version now too by the way). Next on the list is to get the more portable glass media mat so I can work in smaller areas.

I'm still experimenting but so far I have nothing negative to say - I will update this review if any issues do arise.

I highly recommend the Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat, and it was received very well packaged - it is a quality product and one of my favourite tools!

I just love this glass media mat. I make such a mess doing mixed media and art journaling but it’s a simple wipe over with a silicone cloth and it’s sparkling clean.
