Top customer reviews
-Rugged yet refined
-Comfortable (looking at least)
They have surpassed my expectations with only two negative marks in my book.
-Left tongue ripped half off within 3 months
-Tread is wearing quickly, I've had them for a while but this is ridiculous
-Too large (my fault)
-Lots of compliments
-Very comfy for all day wear (at least for my feet, I'm usually in steel toe combat boots because I'm active navy)
-Break in in less than 2 days
-Reliable on a hike
I guess I'll have to get a nice vibram sole put on these when the original wears out, but other than that, they have stood up to nearly everyday wear, grease, sawdust, saltwater, sand, mud, and even quite a bit of scrapes and scratches. Of course, with regular cleaning.
First the fit: I am a 12.5 normally so sometimes the 12 is perfect and sometimes the 13 fits right... With these boots a size 12 was right on. These are very roomy for those of you with wide feet.
The comfort: These boots are extremely soft and comfortable. They feel broken in right out of the box. I would warn those of you that wear work boots for a living... These are not work boots. These are for style and comfort. Real outdoor work would destroy these boots in hours. I bought them for Winter style and waterproof and these are perfect for that.
The style: They are just as cool as the pics. Color is very close to the actual as well. The toe box is much darker than the rest of the boot and that my bother some. I think it adds to the "broken in" look.
Cons: waterproofing is marginal at best (if you submerge your foot in a big puddle, don't expect dry socks), and though the treads look rugged, they provide little to no traction on slippery surfaces. The laces are high quality, but eyelets instead of holes all the way up would make lacing much less time and labor intensive
All in all, a great boot for style and comfort (especially with a Dr. Scholls performance sport insole) but poor performance in winter conditions. I've had them for a few months and they seem durable enough so far.
Turns out these boots are pretty great right out of the box. The leather is good quality and is decently soft to start. Breaking these boots in was no problem at all. They were pretty dang comfortable from day one.
I will say the stitched for some of the patches wasn't quite symmetrical between the pair. Doesn't really bother me though. They are a solid pair of boots.
The leather when you first get them is quite stiff, but after a day or two of just walking around it breaks in very nicely. It has a good thick, quality feel to it. The internal lining isn't very thick so these would be best for cool to moderate climates (not extreme colds). The bottom of the soul has good traction which is part of what I was looking for (I live in a area that's cool wet and slick for a good part of the year). If you need arch support in your shoes or like a very cushy soul though you'll want to add inserts to these (which I don't need, but would have liked to see in order to give the product 5 stars).
