I wear a 12 and a 12 fit well. I always wear mid-weight hiking socks with them.
My feet have never been sore from wearing these boots, but I should qualify that by saying I don't wear this for work. I wear these boots casually all winter long. In the summer, they get benched because they are warm.
You can't go wrong with Timberlands, and I love this color. It is by FAR my favorite pair of boots I've ever owned.
I normally wear a 9E in dress shoes (wearing thin dress socks). Tried both an 8.5M and an 8.5W and the wider boot fit perfectly wearing regular cotton athletic socks. These boots seem to run one-half size big but with standard width.
These are very comfortable boots without any need for break-in. The footbed is soft, especially compared with stiff dress boots and cheap shoes.
I purchased these to wear in the winter (in Minnesota) for everyday use. Not as a heavy-duty snow boot, but for running errands, wearing casually, but definitely exposed to the elements. So far, they have been excellent. My feet are very warm in cold weather despite the lack of insulation. I haven't stepped in any large puddles but no issues with my feet getting wet. Traction in the ice and snow is excellent. We had a snowfall that melt and froze, and these boots worked as well as anything on icy driveways. They feel very solid and sturdy in the snow as well.
No construction issues out of the box. The toes and heels are heavily burnished, which was a surprise. They appear to be dark brown while the rest of the boot is a lighter brown. The leather is soft to the touch; not quite as rough as suede, more like the feel of a pencil eraser. They do "scuff" easily, but that is to be expected with this type of leather. A little conditioner or oil on occasion should make them look pretty much new again. The rubber soles do seem to add at least half an inch in height (Costanza style), but the rubber is light weight and they are not heavy at all.
So far, these are very good boots and I already have my eye out for a dressier pair to wear to work on snowy days.
these were a FULL size too big than my normal size. i take a 12 in ALL timberland boots and these were way too big until i got an 11...which fit like the 12's i normally get in other boots, nikes, AND other timberland hiking boots.
that said, these are a simply beautiful urban hiking boot. meaning, they are a good leather boot with rugged sole that is killer if you are walking around town. they get very comfortable on your foot within a few hours of wearing them out of the box. HOWever, i would not consider these actual trail hiking boots, or any sort of rugged work boots. they are rugged for normal casual wear, and look simply smashing with a pair of jeans, but i do not see these as functional for very rugged work applications or hiking on any sort of terrain.
which is fine since i have $300 german hiking boots which are big and beefy. i got these for a great looking casual walk-around boot that could hold up to occasional challenges, and these are definitely that. with jeans, the look and styling are hard to beat. i'd even pay the $180 retail if i had to, but luckily got them on amazon for around $50 less.

I thought the 11.5s were what I needed but they were too roomy around the ankle and in the foot region. Read morePublished 4 days ago by Quentin Sergent

They look and feel good. They lasted a bit longer than a year of near daily wear, which is what I've come to expect from Timberland. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Jon
