Time Out New York (Time Out Guides) Paperback – January 23, 2007

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 2 ratings

Having passed the five-year anniversary since the tragedy of September 11th 2001, New York City looks forward to a brighter future. Constructions on the Freedom Tower and the memorial, Reflecting Absence, as well as a host of other development projects in the Financial District, are underway. Tourism is booming, too, with record number of visitors being reported for 2006, with roughly 5,000 new hotel rooms in the works through the end of 2007. Manhattan, with its glittering skyline, chic restaurants, world-famous museums and historic sights continues to draw millions of people from around the globe. As publisher of the city’s definitive cultural listings magazine, Time Out is uniquely positioned to keep visitors up to speed on all things New York. Visitor basics are here — accommodations from haute to humble; dining from fine to funky; and party destinations for every taste — all in a user-friendly design. Illustrated chapters celebrate the city’s fascinating history and architecture. A close-up look at Ground Zero reveals a thriving neighborhood bustling with tourists, restaurants, and bars. Delightful walks mapped point-to-point highlight intriguing local lore and legend.

John Smith
3.0 out of 5 stars not up to scratch...
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 30, 2007
Previously I have used the time OUt guidebook to Paris and London both of which are very good. however, this one was not up to scratch. I also had LP NYC and found myself referring to this a lot more then Time Out. Maps were confusing, information about galleries and museums was scanty. The going out section was reasonable as was the shopping bit.
Cannot really comment about the hotel reviews as I picked my hotel after researching on the net.
Overall, an okay book but beaten in most aspects by LP NYC
