Time Skip is a twist on the usual time travel adventure. The story centers around Curtis Lovelle who doesn't exactly travel through time, he skips back in it. Curtis is a middle aged man with a happy life. He has a good marriage and little boy who is the light of his life. He can honestly say that if he were given the opportunity to do things over again, he wouldn't change a thing. He doesn't believe in fate. In his mind, every triumph and foible is essential in the journey to where he is now. But, when he wakes up in his parent’s house, eighteen years in the past, he finds out just how impossible it is to duplicate one's life.

Curtis begins again as a sixteen year old, trying desperately not to alter the course of his life. As he negotiates high school for the second time, he becomes keenly aware of just how easy it is to send life on a new trajectory. The very act of trying to avoid making a mistake causes changes that it is impossible to undue. Without trying, his grades improve. Being faithful to his future wife he rebuffs a past fling only to open the door to a potential relationship he finds it hard to decline. In no time he realizes that he will be lucky to get his wife to fall in love with him again, let alone to do the impossible and get his son back.

While he struggles to decide just exactly how he's going to get his wife back despite how his life is diverging from the past, he realizes that he is uniquely positioned to stop the murder of more than 3000 people. Torn between a need to restore his old life and a desire to stop the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Curtis tries to find a way to have it all. He realizes that if he is going to get his wife back he will have to find a way to do that and be a counter-terrorist too. .

Curtis experiences heart breaking setbacks and incredible triumphs as he navigates his way through a life he has already lived. Time Skip chronicles the extraordinary experiences of this reluctant time traveler.

Good premise - slow content

I had a tough time getting through this book. In fact it took me a couple of months. The premise is very interesting and a somewhat unique take on time travel. However much of the story dragged with long details of teen loves, which was in start contrast to the interesting and exciting start to the book. One reviewer commented on a "bad ending". I wouldn't go so far as to say it was bad, but it felt a bit flat after a strong and exciting climax. But still an intriguing twist. I see there is a follow up story, but at least this book does not end with a strong hook to the next book. Overall the storyline was interesting, but the slow moving parts made it tough to stay attached.

I enjoyed the first book enough to buy the second. The story-teller is an interesting character. The ending was really lame, and I almost had to put down the second book half way through because of the lack of editing. for instance, Peaked instead of Piqued. They're instead of there and Groan for Grown. That is just poor editing, you can't let a spell checker do what you need a grammar checker for. Better yet, hire an educated reader to give you the errors to fix so others can better enjoy the reading experience. By the way, when I let the author know his lack of editing was really irritating, he clearly was irritated by my. I suggested he wrote like someone for whom English is a second language. Which is a great thing to have, but you'd better have an editor who does understand syntax and grammar. Right?

I found the story very interesting, will read the sequel immediately. I suppose the amount of time spent on the main character's personal relationships might be seen as too time consuming but I see that as a very important part of the story. If time travel were possible, of course the time traveler's main concerns would be attempting to recover the most important aspects of his past life. The entire story does bring up some very thought provoking questions, ethical and moral. I suppose no-one can say how they would handle some of those questions. Difficult to contemplate. Take areas for yourself.

If you could go back in time to change some event, right some wrong, would you? And would you be able to make things right, or would your efforts to avert one tragedy inevitably lead to another? That's the basis of this enjoyable book that ends with a big twist- not a cliffhanger, but a 'oh my goodness' moment that makes you want to move on to the sequel.

A pleasant story with believable characters. It is a good alternative history. It is a book geared for young teens. It introduces the questions that alternative history raises. It has healthy non sexual in the adult sense relations between couples. Good depiction of teenage romance but it really doesn't work for the adults. So if you're a tween and want a reading of alternative history that's believable (because author doesn't explain why the skip so it remains credible), this is for you. If you're an older adult you can skip this unless you want to remember teenage angst.

This is a very engaging take on a time travel story. The "what would you do if you could go back in time?"
Good story, but seemed to be a litte rushed through the end chapters.
I know there is a 2nd book, and maybe it is required reading.
I did enjoy the book and would recommend it.

Time Skip is an enjoyable tale of second chances and how they don't really turn out no matter how careful the planning. The personal story of Lovelle is the best part of the story. When the main character tries to prevent terrorist acts, the story tends to lose focus and become a run-of the-mill thriller.
