When Lydia travels to Amsterdam with her parents, bizarre things start to happen. Curtains flutter and unexplained shadows move unnerving her. When Lydia’s life is threatened, she is forced to solve a centuries’ old mystery to uncover the truth about Annika, her story, and how their past and present connect them. Can Lydia learn the truth in time to save herself and help Annika?

The book is crammed with real information that's guaranteed to stimulate the imagination. The writer provides a wealth of background in art, American history and the inside story of the great Tulip crash of 1637. It's exactly the kind of book I used to read to my children back when they were still children and I recommend it to all parents or caregivers for reading to the children in their care.
In his book, The Heart's Code, Paul Pearsall writes that "the creative and careful research of many scientists suggests that there is a subtle yet very powerful and pervasive form of energy that connects every thing and every person." In my own experience I have found reason to suspect that we, at least some of us, live multiple lives on this planet. I found in Timeless Tulips Dark Diamonds a story that resonates with the reality of Pearsall's suggestion and with my own spiritual experiences.
The story begins in the present day. Lydia is with her parents in Amsterdam where her father is interviewing with a Dutch-owned company headquartered in Amsterdam for a job in the U.S.
Annika is from the seventeenth century. Her father makes it big in the coveted tulip market.
Lydia's family is staying in a house where Annika once lived. Lydia notices some strange things going on. In a cafe/pub, she sees an oil painting of a Dutch family from the 1600s. This happens to be Annika's family. The girl's eyes in the painting penetrate the recesses of Lydia's subconscious. After Lydia's father receives the job, the family returns to NYC. They pack up and move for the new job upstate.
After the tulip market collapses, Annika's family moves to New Amsterdam in the United States, but further north in New York. To help with the passage, the father sells the family portrait/painting that Lydia had seen on her trip in Amsterdam.
In her new home, Lydia again experiences some strange occurrences, but the strangest is when her and Annika's worlds collide...and they meet!!
Timeless Tulips is the third novel I have immersed myself in by gifted author, Ellis Nelson. As with her other books, this story is exciting, suspenseful, and unique. The plot twists in unexpected ways and is filled with shadowy circumstances. A wonderful read!!
