I purchased the stainless steel color for myself and this one for hubby. OK, here's my 2 cents: I read a LOT of reviews on every possible travel mug. All of them had some issues. It seemed that all of them weren't leak proof or they didn't leak at all, but had issues with stuff getting trapped inside the lid mechanism which resulted in bad smells and gross sludge. Many also didn't keep stuff hot for more than a half hour or so. After much thought, I decided that being totally leak proof was not nearly as important as not developing gross sludge. Since I don't need to throw the mug into a backpack or briefcase, a perfect seal is not a necessity. So, here's the good and the not so good about this mug.

1. It may not be leak proof, but if you knock it over, only a couple of drips come out - fine for just going from house to work.
2. I haven't tested to see how long it keeps things hot, but I fill the mug a half hour or so before I leave and if I try to take a sip before I get to work (even keeping the lid hole open), I burn my lips. It stays hot till I finish the drink (probably a total of 1.5 to 2 hrs.
3. No plastic issues - I LOVE stainless steel!
4. Although the lid simply presses on (instead of screwing on), it fits very snugly and doesn't leak around the lid and lid hasn't fallen off.
5. It has a simple slide to open/close lid. Simple to operate and it stays open or closed.
6. Very comfortable to drink from (no sharp or rough edges). Lip is perfectly rounded.
7. When you drink, you don't have that very annoying drip that hangs on the lip and then slides down the side of the mug.
8. Nice rubber on bottom so that it doesn't make a loud metallic sound when you set it down.

I think that pretty well sums it up - it's extremely easy to completely clean, only lets out a couple of drips if you knock it over, very comfortable design, works great! For me, this mug doesn't have any negatives.

Color: Eggplant Verified Purchase
I should have listened to the one review that mentioned it was not the color shown - but I thought I would take a chance and see for myself. I also ordered Eggplant but it is black and I don't see any hint of purple in my mug. Also, I would suggest to the company that they make the seal on the open/close tab for sipping a little stronger and tighter. The mug will leak quite a lot if it is tipped or josteled in the car. Overall, it is a decent mug for keeping your drink hot and it is easy to clean - I just wish the color would be truer and the open/close seal tab on top would be stronger.

i bought 3 tumblers to give as christmas gifts to each of my bosses. they all loved their tumbler and i did too so i got 3 more, one for my boyfriend, one for my friend, and one for my self.

this is the best looking tumbler. it also keeps the contents hot for a looong time. it feels good to drink out of it and to know that your drink hasn't been sitting in plastic the whole time.

i highly recommend it. save trees! get one for your self and take it to your favorite coffee shop next time instead of getting a paper cup.

I bought this cup when I lived in Alaska. I would buy my morning latte and walk two blocks to work, even when the temperatures dropped below zero, my coffee would still be HOT. I bought two more and gave them to my parents.

I am amazed at how well this mug works. I was working on a construction site in January in Taos, NM. We had temps of -5 to 25 degrees most days and I discovered that my coffee was still hot after 4 hours!
