Product Description

Tiny but mighty is an ancient heirloom popcorn that's outrageously delicious and will change the way you think about popcorn forever. Our unique non-gmo kernels are gluten free, allergen free, kosher, and loaded with whole grain fiber safe for the whole family. Our longtime fans love this tiny popcorn for its concentrated corn flavor and the extremely thin outer hull that disintegrates when popped. Tbm's thin outer hull means no more annoyingly sharp pieces to get stuck in your teeth, break your dental work, or cause the digestive discomfort typically associated with larger commercial popcorn kernels. Often people tell us the description sounds too good to be true… how could such an amazing popcorn fly below the radar for so long? Our rare variety of popcorn was shared by native Americans with a pioneer family in Iowa around the 1850s and enjoyed by friends and family for generations. Towards the end of the 1900s the popcorn was nearly forgotten and on the verge of extinction because it was so difficult to grow compared with hybrid and gmo varieties of corn. Enter farmer gene meal how who started a 20 year process to painstakingly improve the quality and consistency of the heirloom species. Farmer gene utilized the same patient, old world techniques that native Americans used for millennia to identify, strengthen, and preserve the best traits. Farmer gene is finally being rewarded for his patience and so are popcorn lovers all across America. If you have any problems or complaints about how your tbmpopcorn is performing, please visit our how-to-pop tips and troubleshooting guide or get in touch with us at the farm in Iowa. We promise that tiny but mighty will change the way you think about popcorn and we want to make sure you experience our popcorn with the same delight as our diehard tbmpopcorn fans. Thanks for your support and happy popping.

and that they have continued to produce it, handed down from Native Americans in that area for who knows how many centuries. It is all that they claim. Delicious, delicate hulls that don't stick in your teeth, pops well too. I bought it first at Whole Foods. I use coconut oil, just a little to pop it kind of dry. I pop it on the stove with a heavy bottomed stainless steel pan like Allclad(I use the Allclad Windsor pan). When it is completely popped I sprinkle with a little salt, pepper and white truffle oil. Fantastic and so much healthier than microwaved popcorn because if you pop it on the stove you know what's in it. Love that it's from an Iowa farm family in America's corn heartland. I liked the reviewer who said it reminds him of his childhood in Iowa when they drove to the farm to pick this pop corn up. Also a great price from Amazon. Beautifully packaged and makes great gifts or stocking stuffers. You could also use in a gift basket alone, or with salt, pepper, coconut oil and white truffle oil or whatever you like. If you really like the recipient you could skip the basket and put it in an Allclad Windsor Pan with a bow. Or give it to yourself.

I received my popcorn about a week ago and have been enjoying it since then. I ordered six bags. These bags are fairly small, but if you're anything like me and go through at least a 1/3 of unpopped popcorn a day, six bags is just the right amount. Upon opening the bag, I noticed right away that the kernels were significantly smaller, even more natural looking. They are a dark carmel color, versus larger popping corn which is more of an orange to pumpkin color & they are little fat round kernels. In my house we always stove top pop corn with just a few tablespoons of oil. So initially, I place the oil and a few kernels to get me started. Once those pop I know my pan & oil is hot enough to pop the rest. My first impression of the popped kernels is that they are about half the size of other popcorn. So I proceed to pop my regular 1/3 cup. When done, it seems as if I have about 2/3 less than normal, but I remind myself that these kernals are just smaller & that I must still have the same amount. So I pour them onto the pan and salt the bowl. They taste amazing! I would say they have a very fresh taste, almost a little earthiness to it. It tastes really good and I'm very pleased. Several claims have been made that because these kernels are smaller, they don't stick in the teeth. I would say that is partially true. You're still eating popcorn, so you're still going to have a bit of that 'stick in your teeth' thing, but for the most part, it is much easier to consume them because of their size. Also, I don't know how Mich I can speak to the claim that these are easier for the body to digest, but I can say that after eating this popcorn for just over a week, you don't leave feeling like there's a brick in your stomach.Read more ›

I eat very little corn (though I absolutely love it) because appx 85% of the corn grown in the U.S. has been genetically modified (Look up the facts). I was so happy to find this Non-GMO & Organic variety of Popcorn. It pops very well (in a kettle) and tastes amazing. Treat yourself and buy it.

This popcorn is really good and I have yet to get a hull stuck in my teeth. My kids love it too. We pop it with coconut oil and it turns out perfect every time!

I have several issues with this particular popcorn.

Perhaps the biggest problem I encountered was that the first bag I opened had a ROCK in it. That's right, an actual stone. A pebble. See photo for size.

Next, the company's claim of this product being hull-less is a joke. The bag says the hulls "virtually dissolve when popped". Well after making four batches of this stuff, I can tell you that they definitely have just as much stick-in-your-teeth hull as regular popcorn. Perhaps they thought they could fool people because the hulls are simply much smaller and a little thinner than regular ones.

Finally, I've never had a popcorn with such poor popping performance. Not only does it take forever to get the kernels going in the first place - much longer than some other heirloom varieties I've tried - but no matter how long you cook it, there are always a ton of unpopped kernels at the bottom of the pot. I've even tried skimming the popped corn off the top and reheating the (still very hot) leftover unpopped corn, but they just sit there and slowly burn. Obviously the moisture content of the kernels is low, meaning they're most likely pretty old.

I would recommend finding some good quality Amish popcorn if you can. It will perform much better than this stuff and most likely be an organic heirloom variety.

This is the BEST popcorn on the planet!! First popcorn I have tried that doesn't really even need salt. It is THAT good. I use 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 1/2 a cup of popcorn in my trusty Stir Crazy, and this stuff pops fantastic. Put some unsalted butter on it, and enjoy. Been trying to find something like this since I was put on a very restrictive low sodium diet. Would it be better with salt? Absolutely. But it has such a wonderful taste, I barely miss it.
