Gave new grip to a touring bike for some on/off road use....

My fiancee' and I were looking for a tire for her Giant touring bike which would allow her to ride along with me on some of the more intermediate mountain trails which I ride. I spent quite a bit of time researching what tires were available in her 700 x 38C tire size and there weren't many offerings. I ultimitely decided on these tires for her based on finding name brand manufacturer, the tread pattern and overall price with shipping and we are very pleased with the results. On the first ride with them she immediately felt more confident on loose gravel roads and muddy areas and found it easier to ride over roots, rocks and other obstacles. We are very please with the purchase.

I only have one ride on them. It rained today and I took these up a steep muddy fire road. Rutted rocky running water and deep mud. They grabbed well going up and also on the way down. They also seemed to roll nice on the roads as well. Very good traction. These will take me anywhere that I would go.

I got this tire when I purchased a used hybrid bike that only had 1 tire on it. I have no idea how many miles were ridden by the previous owner. I put new tires on that bike and moved this tire to the rear of my favorite, a 1996 Giant Innova, which had 700x35c Cheng Shins and the rear was just about toast. I have had this tire for about a year and a half and have probably put over 500 miles on it, mostly around town, both on and off the road. It has held up really well, rolls well and corners exceptionally well for being such an aggressive tread. It also performs well pulling a Trek Mountain Train or other trailers that I have and when I use panniers.

Where the Bloodhound really shines is once you get off the pavement and onto trails. Traction is absolutley NO Problem, whether its soft dirt, wet grass, gravel or even mud, (although I don't do a whole lot of the mud & root thang). On the pavement, those places on corners with loose sand and gravel are much easier to handle without the bike trying to slip out from under you.

The combination of 38c on the rear and 35c on the front makes for a really nimble, all-around stable ride, although for extensive trail riding, I would reccomend the Bloodhound on the front, also. I will soon be ordering another one just for this purpose.
