Central Channel Central aluminum channel lets the user move individual components to the ideal position for their firearm. Each individual component then adjusts to the perfect position for secure support.	Rear Clamps The rear base features two adjustable offset clamps for a tight grip on a wide range of buttstock configurations. With this flexibility, the rear clamp blocks can accommodate practically any stock configuration, style and size of cheek piece, or cast-off.	Front Support The grip support features two leg heights and can be maneuvered along the length of the T-track to support the stock.

For cleaning break-open shotguns and rifles, or rifles that feature hinged design, remove the forend upper support from the forend base and secure the upper support directly to the extreme end of the base. This position allows the barrel to extend below the height of the bench. Install the grip support with the longer leg upright, relatively close to the forend support, which will bear the firearm near the hinge. Because the firearm has moved toward one end of the vise, the rear clamp support can be moved closer to the grip support to accommodate the different position of the butt stock.

I have had this vise 3 yrs now so I feel it’s time for a honest review. If this vise is indicative of Tiptons best then their going out of business soon will be no surprise. This is without doubt the poorest excuse for a vise or any type of firearm support that could be made. My 6th grade daughter opened my eyes when said said to me, "dad I know you could build your own a lot better than this one". So if your thinking of buying this and you don’t believe this review I’ll give this one. If you think I am wrong then you can pay me for it. I would love to hear from you. If you work for a living then this is not the right product for you. If you want to use it as a way to display your firearms, then great. Because that is all it’s good for. I bought a regular vise and made myself wood jaws then wrapped them in felt.

"Good" but not "Best" gun vise

I got tired of messing with different shadetree methods of supporting and stabilizing rifles when working on them and bought the Best Gun Vise based on various positive recommendations.
Overall, it is an adequate tool for the firearms hobbyist, and does its primary job of supporting most rifles (including AR platforms) for simple maintenance, adding a scope, and doing modifications.
PROS - clever design
Holds many rifle types
Compact size, small footprint. With a hole drilled in an end web, could be put on a "L" hook in the wall for storage
Rifle is held firmly if clamped - helpful for leveling scopes. Requires a bit of fiddling to get the rifle "just right"
Good access to all parts of the rifle
Temporary storage for screws and small parts incorporated in the base.
CONS - it is plastic and flexes more than desirable, but certainly does the job.
Likely would not fare well if significant impact forces are applied to the rifle.
Rubber "feet" slide too easily... may replace them with larger units.
IMO the "real value" of this vise is in the $55-$65 range, making it a bit overpriced

Would consider this to be a "GOOD" vice, but "BEST" is a bit of a marketing department overstatement...

It's OK, but nothing great. It's overpriced for what it is - just some Chinese plastic. It will hold a rifle, but the plastic is very flimsy and flexy, so you sure aren't going to hold anything very tight. Also, you don't find out until AFTER you buy it, but the papers with it say any warranty is void for any commercial use, so gunsmiths beware. So, for maybe just holding a rifle while you clean it, it's OK (but overpriced), but you aren't going to do any real work on a gun clamped loosely in this thing, and "loosely" is the tightest you'll ever clamp anything in it. Even for just cleaning a gun, you'll probably still need to hold the gun with one hand, because this will never hold it tight enough to run a brush in and out, for example. You sure aren't going to do any stock work with it.

This is a flimsy, poorly constructed rifle vise. It's made out of plastic. It does not hold an AR-15 (a rifle with a pistol grip) well and does not hold a standard rifle well. It just doesn't work. When I put a rifle in and tighten the butt end of the vise, the vise sides move and look like they are going to break. It does not securely hold a rifle.

Mine arrived used as evidenced by the scratches and gouges on the vise, loose parts inside the factory box, and missing one bolt. I was able to reassemble it and try it out. Tipton makes good products, but this is very lightweight and didn't do well with large, heavy rifles. My initial intention was to ask Amazon to send another one, but after playing with it for a bit, I sent it back and bought the Tipton Ultra Gun Vise instead.

For a hobbyist who occasionally uses a vise just for cleaning his guns, this would probably work well. It configures easily to hold a wide variety of firearms. but it is very lightweight, prone to moving, and lacks the configurability of the Ultra. For not much more money, the Ultra is a better buy for anyone who does any sort of gunsmithing.

awesome plastic gun cleaning vise

This plastic gun vise is very versatile and have come to enjoy it while working on my long guns. The vise is especially good for working on ARs. I do wish that they made the middle support adjustable if not the ability to add an AR magazine block for mounting an AR much like the Wheeler Delta Series AR-15 Mag Well Lower Gunsmith Block 156211. The vise is also useful when using a NO-M.A.R® Cleaning Link which works well with this vise. The rubber feet do not allow the vise to shift much during cleaning. The little utility tray is surprisingly useful also.

If you watch this vise on Amazon, you will see the price fluctuates quite a bit...I got mine for $75. I don't think I would buy this for the retail price though (~$130).

This thing is an absolute piece of garbage. I can’t even use it for cleaning. I’d rather set the gun down on a nice Matt on a table top rather than trying to use this piece of garbage. I literally think I’m going to throw it away, like actually throw it away. Every time I go to use the thing I just question why I ever pulled it down in the first place. It’s absolutely flimsy, It doesn’t hold anything in place. It’s definitely not what you’re looking for if you’re trying to do anything serious besides setting your gun on top of it to look at it. Spend an extra hundred dollars and get an actual vice that will lock your firearm in place. Don’t waste your time with this garbage.

For a cleaning setup, it's not bad at all. I haven't owned any other gun cleaning rigs so I can't tell if they are the 'best'. But I'm happy with this purchase. Seems well engineered. The construction is plastic and the rubber caps fall off, so I glued em back on. It's light and somewhat portable. It doesn't collapse very much for storage, so make sure you have space to put it while not using it to clean your guns, pistols or rifles.

I can say that I would recommend this to a friend who needed an extra hand while cleaning guns. I myself have cleaned guns for 20+ years without any rig like this. Having it is pretry nice, wish I bought it sooner.
