We use traditional techniques including cooking the fruit in small batches using copper pans to make the highest consistent quality – each batch produces only 150 jars of product.
Gluten free, made in a nut free factory, suitable for vegetarians.

Taste is subjective, so I'm not going to try and convince anyone that this is the jam for them.

I heard of Damson plums when I lived in the UK, but I never found any for sale anywhere.

When I moved back to the states, I was motivated enough to plant some damson trees. They haven't fruited yet, but fingers crossed.

Since I couldn't wait any longer, I ordered a jar of Tiptree to test it out.

It's delicious. I know others have claimed it's too sweet, but for me it was perfect. The tartness balances out the sugar, and the ingredients are simple and easy to decipher.

I'm trying to be sparing in my use until my next order arrives, but I don't think I'll be able to pull it off. The jam is that good.

Damson preserves.

The house where I grew up was located on a six acre plot on the edge of a small town. We had a milk cow, two pigs and my Dad grew potatoes and corn. We had a small orchard, and next to it were two small damson trees. My mother would harvest the damsons and make damson preserves. I loved the sweet, tart taste. Now, eighty years later, I discovered this product on Amazon. It brings back wonderful memories from long ago ( I'm 87 years old). The taste of damson preserves is quite unique and I know you will like it.

Damson plum preserve is not easy to find in this quality. The fruit is small and dense. Not much popular in the plum world, it is an old variety. The depth of flavor makes it ideal as a preserve. It is far from the usual market varieties bread for maximum sugar and juice; Damson is neither.

Tiptree does an outstanding job of delivering the essence of this old world wonder at a nice price. My favorite use for this preserve is to combine a tablespoon with two of a deep old armagnac and from it into a glass of cold sparkling wine, such as a a brut Cava or even a Prosecco. Cheers!

Too sweet for me

Decent quality, but I found the jam way too sweet. Was hoping for a deeper, more sour flavor. I grew up in Eastern Europe and am forever looking for foods that taste more “natural”. This jam has a robust, smokey plum flavor, but it’s still too flat and sweet, in my opinion. The consistency is right, it is not too Jello-like, and has proper texture. I mix in a tiny bit of lemon juice before spreading it on toast. I would recommend this brand overall, it’s just that my personal preference is for less sweet preserves, something that tastes more like real fruit rather than syrup.

are you kidding? This product proudly announces it has 43% fruit...not plum mind you, but fruit pecktin and plum. THE REST IS SUGAR. What a ridiculous product and a scam. It's no more plum jam than peanut butter. If I hadn't opened it I'd send it back...thru their window.

I tried three flavors (Damson Plum, Black Currant, and Orange Marmalade) and by far the Damson Plum is my fave flavor. The only downside is that I could not enjoy the entire jar because once I got to about an inch of the bottom of the jar, it had crystallized. There's way too much sugar in these jams (in my opinion). Yes, it was delicious, but how do I prevent the crystallizing of the jam? It tastes so gross at that stage. I don't eat a lot, I only like a minimal amount of jam on my bagel. Even so, it should last longer in the fridge.
Edit: I just discovered that my local Walmart carries this Damson Plum from Tiptree for $4.94, which is great!
Edit 2/7/22: Just wanted to update my review on my original statement that the jam crystallized before I could finish it. Apparently that only happened once (the first jar on which I based my original review). I’ve since bought more jars and it’s never happened again. Make sure you close the lid tightly after use and that you only use a dry utensil to get your jam out of the jar. Don’t use a wet one. So far this works. Still one of my favorite flavors, Damson Plum.

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because of the cost. It has a little tartness to go offset the sweetness. I will definitely buy this again. I fibbed to my husband when he asked about it saying it was really, really sweet because I knew he would eat it all within a month if I didn't and he has lots of other jellies to choose from. A girl's got to do what a girl's got to do to keep a little something for herself sometimes. LOL

I’ve never heard of damson, but dammmmmmmm it’s good! It’s like grape jelly for adults, except I hate grape jelly. The texture is really nice, not too jelly like, and not too watery. The taste is sweet but not that sickening over sweet corn syrupy stuff like we have here in the U.S.

Looking forward to trying that special strawberry option, but I’ll need to finish this one up first ( plus I need to save up for that one!)
